possible nut allergy

Do I need to eliminate ALL nuts to see if my rash goes away, if I'm suspecting only cashews?
I imagine I'd have to eliminate stuff that says "may contain traces of nuts". Would I be able to eat those items if I check with the company and they know it isn't cross contaminated with cashews? (and potentially sesame, which someone told me could be cross reactive with cashew allergies) For example, if they don't make any products with cashews, etc.

And I'm guessing that one wouldn't want to trial nuts to know for sure if they caused a reaction, right? So is the only way to know for sure, to do an allergy test?

When I go to the doctor tomorrow, and I tell them my rash could have been related to cashews, what will they do? Send me to an allergist? Give me an epi pen? Tell me it can't be food related? (I'm joking about the last one. I'm bitter that they said that ds2's rash couldn't be related to food).

Sorry about all the questions- I've never dealt with nut allergies before, and they kind of worry me!

A tree nut allergic person is considered allergic to all tree nuts. I think because the cross contamination is just too risky as well as the potential to react to others when you have one.

I'd eliminate them all for now. Call about cross (my oils, gluten free flours, gluten free almost everything, etc.) were cross contaminated with nuts. Sometimes very heavily. Maybe they label better in Canada than here.

I'd be careful with sesame right now if that's not too overwhelming (breads, crackers are going to be your main sources of heavy sesame cross along with some spices but McCormick is pretty safe if you've got that there). Canada labels sesame contains I believe so companies should be much more sesame aware than they are in the US.

So all nuts. hmmm. If it doesn't mention "may contain traces of nuts" will it be ok? I guess that could be different from the US to Canada.
Should I also avoid buying things from bulk bins?

Well at least the doc I saw referred my to an allergist, so I can get testing done to know for sure. Hopefully it doesn't take forever to see the allergist!
