I'm curious what you mamas would recommend for preparing body for pregnancy? Are there any tests you would recommend to check minerals, vitamins etc?

this is my plan and wanted some input, please

Gluten free/possibly dairy free(would like to keep kefir and yogurt around)will know after I trial it
Bone broths-daily
Considering frozen liver pills but not sure I can do it
Take magnesium glycinate
Selenium-brazil nuts or thornes selenium
Glutagenics for intestinal support-1 tsp daily
Trying to find a stronger milk thistle for liver support(mine only has 10mg silymarin)
Vitamin D 5,000-10,000 daily
fermented cod liver oil
Taking thornes B-complex with extra B5 but is that really enough to help adrenals...thinking of adding some adaptogens
Anyone hear of Liposomal cream to support low adrenal function?

Wondering about a pre-natal maybe Thornes but I worry because it's not from whole food sources?

Wondering If I need zinc or Vitamin E?? Not sure how to tell I did the beet test but beets are VERY HARD for me to eat so I couldn't keep them down but I guess my stomach acid is low since it's so common.

Also considering a glutathione/sod cream for antioxidant support but whew expensive!

I'm trying to find my nuerotransmitter test to see how those are but I remember my serotonin was really low.

folic acid is a must.
i would consider the zinc carefully; it is a heavy metal and in higher concentrations can be bad for you and babe.
try to get lots of nutrition from your food sources, rather than supplements...
good luck!

I want to make sure I get the right form of folic acid tho and I don't think folic acid is the right form??? I'll have to search for the thread on that.

In my case I need more supplements due to my thyroid/adrenal issues so I can't rely just on my foods especially while I'm trying to build up my nutritional stores. So I feel safer using supplements along with foods

You're right, you want folate, you don't want folic acid. Thorne's multivits typically have half 5-mthf folate and half folinic acid, seems like a half-and-half mix works for most people, I don't know why.

And yeah, I agree that supplements are important when trying to correct health issues. And for stuff like zinc, most people actually don't consume enough--it's just us, with kids with health issues (or health issues ourselves) that it becomes obvious enough that it can't be overlooked.

I've read milk thistle is contraindicated in the first trimester, I think it was in this forum, but I don't remember the details. So it's something to look into.

What's your timeframe, and what's your guess on how you ended up here? Those seem important for getting you in good shape. And remind me how older your little one is?

One other thing--I don't have personal experience with this, I've just now got an order in for cell salts. Have you seen the thread in H&H? Panserbjorne seems to know this stuff quite well, and given that a few people now in Dental have used them with good results for their kids--either healing cavities or difficult teething--and stuff like helping nails and hair grow, well, it seems potentially very useful during pregnancy.

How are you for vitamin A? Also something to work on the status of before TTC.

Hey, whoMe has a pre-conception thread in this forum, look for that and link it? It's a fairly general discussion, not just one person's issues, and it may have stuff for you to consider.

Interesting I will have research that one more or ask my herbalist

We wanted to start trying in about 8-10months. I don't know how I got here honestly...that's one thing I wish I could figure out! My LO is almost 22 months.

Oh yes I have DD on a few cell salts. I plan on throwing of few of those in my plan for myself too!

Vitamin A well we eat butter daily,FCLO daily, but that's it. I'm really wanting to try the frozen liver pill thing for more A but that's very hard for me. any suggestions on the A?

]Good idea thanks Tanya!

Another I forgot to add was I'm going to be taking some hormone balancing herbs. My progesterone is extremely low

Bumping...any more ideas?

I just started taking B-6 because I have a short luteal phase, and I read in a few threads here that it is recommended for helping to lengthen luteal phase. I think this is related to progesterone, so you might look into it as well!

I hope to concieve soon, and so have been drinking lots of herbal infusions-- nettle and oatstraw mostly-- trying to increase my nutrient stores.

I have a friend that went to a chinese medicine practitioner and she was tested for heavy metals and found out that she had a high mercury concentration in her body, so she did a lengthy detox before ttc. I'm not sure if I'm going to go that route, but I am trying to stay away from seafood (especially the high-mercury kinds) for a while.

If you are needing that intense liver support then perhaps you are having issues with a food like dairy. I would go easier on the liver but nourishing it at the same time, but that is my opinion. I would drink lots of good herbal infusions that are same while pregnant, like nettles.

For B Vit's I really like Lewis Labs Brewers Yeast and that really helps with energy. Also liver is great for b vitamins. Liver is so yummy lightly fried with onions and served with mashed potatoes. I cant stand the look of it so I have dh fry it up.

And about your liver, are you getting probiotics? That will really support the liver and heal the gut. And a healthy gut will produce many b vitamins.

Not sure about some of the things you are looking for but there are many great whole foods loaded with antioxidants.

I just saw this post I wish wish wish I could do liver!!! I'm going to try frozen liver pills because I'm 100% certain I can't do liver in any other form!

I'm not getting probiotics. I finally recieved some kefir and yogurt today thank goodness but I doubt I will be able to do it consistently here in VA.

What do you think is a good therapeutic dose of Nettles daily?
I usually use a heaping tablespoon of nettles per cup of water, and drink 1-3 cups a day.

Some add more nettles as per Susun Weeds recommendations. Just do what feels right.
