Lets talk Easter Menu

Thread Starter
Well, It is just going to be DH, DD (almost 2) and I for dinner, so I don't need to prepare a big meal, but we are just getting back on the meat bandwagon after almost 15 years of being vegetarian and DH wants ham.

I am thinking ham, some sort of sweet potato dish, green beans of some sort maybe a salad and a yummy dessert.

We are currently GF, egg free, dairy free, and soy free.

Anyone want to share your menu?

I found a recipe for honey glazed ham that seems like it will work, but I want some delicious recipes for the rest of the stuff.

Thanks

So far it's 6 adults, 3 kids. But 7 adults and 3 kids might also be coming; they haven't figured out their plans yet. Makes planning fun.

So far:
ham
might try to make a sauce that's horseradish and apricot jam (I grew up with my mother doing a currant jelly-horseradish sauce, but I can't find safe currant jelly). At the moment, I can't find safe horseradish either, so this plan may be scrapped
scalloped potatoes or roasted potatoes (or maybe both)
steamed asparagus
green salad with a viniagrette dressing
steamed broccoli or cauliflower
fruit salad (cantaloupe, pineapple, grapes, maybe blueberries)
Haven't figured out dessert yet.... maybe lemon meringue pie (but DS can't have it, so maybe I need to make blueberry pie as well, and maybe a pie for the normal people)

And we're getting home from being away a couple days on Saturday night. And Easter will be at 2pm. That should make things interesting. Hopefully the house will be clean when we leave on Thursday.

25+ (5 kids)

We are dairy, egg, soy, nut, seafood, corn and a few others.

We will be having:

Ham
Turkey breast
Salad
Roasted broccoli and cauliflower
Mashed potatos
stuffing

Maybe making a green bean cass and brownies if I have time too.

Dairy, gluten, egg, nut, peanut, coconut, berry, banana free (that seems so much shorter than it feels). Also artificial colours.

Turkey
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
peas
carrots
salad
cranberry sauce
possibly a wild rice stuffing

fruit salad sounds good but it would probably end up being too high-sals.
not sure about dessert yet

What I really want is my grandmother's fruit salad - canned fruit cocktail plus some fresh fruit, real whipped cream, and pastel mini marshmallows! But that's not happening, so we'll have the fruits that both my kids can have (so no strawberries, bananas, apples, oranges).

We're doing a family brunch so I'm going to do a potato hash (with potatoes, onions, diced tomato, chicken breakfast sausage from trader joe's, and fresh parsley), some nitrate/antibiotic free bacon, watermelon, apple slices, coffee and juice. Hopefully that will please everyone! All safe for our lil guy's allergies.

My gran used to make something similar but I prefer ambrosia. You could probably do a mock up of ambrosia, come to think of it.

We avoid gluten, dairy, eggs, and one dd avoids some sals/histamines...

We're with my IL's for Easter...My family is super good about accommodating us and trying to plan a menu that we can at least partially have, but not the IL's...so I'll have to make the entire meal and worry about xcon. sigh.

I'm not for sure what we're doing as I don't know her menu yet--I try to make it similar.
We'll for sure do turkey and then probably potato salad, pasta salad, fruit salad...and some sort of dessert. It really depends on what MIL decides...they'll do ham and rolls for sure.

Done it (with coconut milk yogurt, shredded coconut, pineapple, oranges;left out the banana because DD2 hadn't added them back yet). I was the only one who ate it.

Are you game for gringing your own horseradish? My Polish great grandmother used to do this when I was a child.

I've done it before (my grandfather used to grow it in his garden). But it's not in season here... I wonder if Whole Foods has it...
