Baby back crack

My son is 8 mo and whenever I pick him up from the sitting position, his back cracks. It's audible and I can feel it too. I usually pick him up by holding onto his sides under his armpits. Is this abnormal? I feel so sorry for him every time it happens, though he never seems to notice ...

It happened to my son for a long time too.
He did see a chiropractor regularly so I don't think there was anything wrong that the chiro wouldn't have noticed...

Some people are simply more prone to this, even from infancy. My DS's back has cracked like that since he was little. My back, knees, neck, etc all crack super easily as well. It doesn't hurt, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yep, I have noticed this too. I figure since he doesn't react, it must be ok/normal. Don't know though. . .

This happens with my 8 month old DD too. It doesn't seem to bother her either.

That happens to my DS with his back and wrists. It freaks me out, but he doesn't seem to notice.

This happens to my DS all the time. It always gives me the heebie jeebies, even though it doesn't seem to bother him at all.

Hi! This still happens to DD, now 10mos, and I asked the ped about it several months ago--"that's normal" was the response. HTH
