My oldest ds just turned 3 and I have a dd who just turned 1. I mostly cloth diapered and did some ec stuff with ds (oldest) from when he was a baby and just from being familiar with when he needed to go and being familiar with the potty, he was nearly 100% going on the potty before dd came along. He was still wearing diapers or running around naked but knew when he had to go and would run off to the toilet.
Things changed (many things) when dd was born, and ds slowly started not going to the toilet any more, I kind of just rolled with it, knowing that some back tracking was normal and not wanting to pressure it. During the past year we have tried to encourage going on the potty some with out too much pressure and tried wearing underpants which some days would go well and other days he would just go in his pants. It has been on and off for the past year, sometime he would go to the bathroom and sometimes just go in his pants, but lately instead of getting better it is now getting to be much worse.
He has started just going on the floor ALOT. It is quite frustrating, because it isn't really an accident, it is like he is doing it on purpose. And we have carpet (which I would love to tear up) so clean up is a lot harder. I try and get him to help clean it up and I tell him that if he can't go on the potty he will need to wear a diaper still. The problem is he can easily take a diaper off. He just peed in his pants a minute ago, and said "Mama, I peein'."
And he has been taking off his pants and going poop on our bedroom floor which is on the way to the bathroom, but I don't really think he is trying to make it to the bathroom.
I am not really sure how to handle this. Any advice?
We were doing do well at 20 months old.
He just has no motivation to go to the toilet now because to him its just as easy to go right where he is and then get some fresh clothes. AHhhhh
