Relentless diaper rash

Ok not sure where to post this, its not exactly a cloth diaper issue (although we do CD ).
Ok, so dd is 7 months, and has pretty much had a red bum her entire life
She only gets the rash when she poops, and even if I clean her immediately, anywhere poop touches will become red and irritated. Calendula extract helps, and if she goes 2 or 3 days between poops she's all clear. So I'm pretty sure her diapers are clean, no yeast or anything, because she's rash free on days where she doesn't poo. I'm still exclusively breastfeeding.. maybe something I'm eating is irritating her. ....
Help!

Have you tried puting baking soda into her bath water? That has really helped for us in the past!

Not an answer to your original question but we started to put DS on the potty at about that time. I'll be honest I really don't like poopy diapers and DS made a Poopoo face so it was really a short period of time before we were poopy diaper free. As for the rash I would start keeping some sort of food diary and slowly trying to narrow it down. Most offenders are Wheat, Dairy, Acidic Foods (tomatoes, Pinapple, Citrius, etc). I know a friend of ours that had to cut out all acidic foods from her diet and his and his rash cleared up. Hope it helps.

First, I doubt anything in your milk is causing her diaper rash. I'd guess the ph of breastmilk doesn't change much, regardless of your diet- not enough to cause a contact burn, anyway. However, fiddling with your diet might help, it certainly does seem to help some babies with this problem. Many moms have great luck treating diaper rash by applying expressed breastmilk to the irritated areas. I also agree that trying to catch the poop in a potty (or sand bucket or onto an open diaper) will reduce the exposure and get less poo on her bottom. Also, putting on some kind of oily barrier (diaper goo like desitin or a natural brand or even just plain olive oil) before she poops might prevent the poo from coming into contact with her skin.

DD had what looked like a sunburn on her butt until...I stopped all dairy.
Once in a while I slip up and it comes right back. She gets a rash when I drink orange juice too.

I would definitely look into something you're eating. Keeping a food diary will make it easier to see a pattern. I'd look into citrus and dairy especially. If you don't want to go to that much work, you could just cut out citrus and dairy (or whatever your gut says could be the trigger) for a week, and go from there. Though dairy takes a month to get out of your systen, I've read.

My ds had a rash above his penis that was related to foods I was eating.

Well I'm vegan so no need to cut out dairy
I will attempt to cut out acidic foods and see if that helps.. Maybe she has ubber sensitive skin.
I would love to try to get her to poop on the toilet. I haven't read into EC enough, but I will put that on my to-do list.
Thanks

lol, thanks to DD, I'm vegan too. Actually, I kind of feel better so I may stay that way!
Hope something works soon!
