I'm thinking of getting my dc a game of some sort, but am open to other ideas, anyone getting their child anything else? (instead of OR aswell as chocolate gifts?)

I've had my eye out for Checkers and/or Battleship, but haven't come across a set I'm happy with yet. I've already got a DVD and a book and a little Lego kit. And if I get my butt in gear, I'll finish the topstitching on a new pillowcase for him.

I tend towards getting spring/summer things. Packets of flower seeds, sunglasses, new sandals, jumprope, those velcro catch/ball thingies, etc.

We do books and anything else fun that the kids will use.

One year we gave them binoculars and compasses. I've done seeds, gardening gloves and kiddie garden tools, art stuff, bubbles.

I got all of my dcks their own prism. More sunshine = more chances to make rainbows.
Our Easter Bunny is also REALLY big on dental hygiene and brings my dd a years worth of cool tooth brushes and tooth paste that are very easy to hide in yard.
He also hangs her summer dresses from the trees.
One year he left panties rolled up and hidden in slightly larger eggs outside.
That's what we do.

I got some toy cars in eggs from Wal Mart. We used to get an outfit and a small toy as well as the candy when I was a kid. Junior Monopoly or the full version may be a fun option for your family. My dd isn't that fond of board games, but she loves Monopoly.

rubber boots and raincoat (if needed for spring), new bike helmut, rake and gardening gloves, games for outdoors.

I like the idea of seeds...

I'm planning on giving them art supplies, and some sort of outside toy.

I try to do more small presents than candy. I bought a tie-dye green dress that is the "Easter grass" at the bottom of the basket. Then a couple of used books, a new notebook, some Barbie clothes, a slinky, and a new color-changing matchbox car.

In addition to some candy, we always do spring/outdoor type things too- paddle ball, bubbles, kites - this year they are also getting a set of bunny ears, little parachuting ducks and a ball set for catch.

We do a new toothbrush. It's a tradition my mother started. Also bubbles, cookie cutters, and a family game. Nothing big.

We're doing a chocolate bunny (which I'm thinking will be the only candy), some crayon rocks to put inside the plastic eggs, and a toy sailboat. The boat will not fit inside an egg, so I'm thinking of putting little clues on slips of paper inside the eggs for a "treasure hunt" type deal. We're moving out of our house and into an apartment next month, so trying to make that a bit more attractive for DS - the complex has a park with a pond for his new boat to sail in.

We did sunglasses, a new t-shirt, an all-purpose ball, and some stickers and temporary tatoos. But we also did goldfish crackers, all-natural fruit snacks, and a bit of chocolate.

ETA: we got kites growing up, and it was THE BEST!!

My boys are still really small, and I am trying to continue on a tradition that my mother always did with me when I was a kid. Only because it felt like Christmas in april.

My mom always made us easter baskets, and then set them up in the middle of the room before we woke up in the morning. So as a child, when you open your eyes and see this basket in your room with all these goodies in it, it feels like Santa came 8 months early. So for my boys, I went to the Dollar store and picked up about 10 dollars worth of stuff And got some really cute stuff!) and some sand pails (for this summer) to put everything in. No candy. I leave that stuff up to the grandparents.

Both my boys LOVE Disney pixar Cars, so whatever I could find that was race car related, I grabbed. They had Cars crayons (box of like 15 for a buck!) little packages of double race cars, a package of like 4 bazookas with race cars on the them. It was really cute. Im super excited to put the "baskets" together.

We usually put in either sidewalk chalk or bubbles. They seem like nice springtime gifts. We've also put in PlayDoh.

I like the gardening ideas people have mentioned here in the past...gloves, seeds, etc. - but, while dd1 would probably love it, ds2 would think the bunny had lost his mind. Maybe next year.

Let's see...pinwheels, skipping ropes, stuffies (we like stuffies around here - well, everyone except dh). I'm afraid we mostly do candy, although I'm going to cut back this year. I've had a tendency to go overboard. It never mattered much with ds1, because he could take it or leave it (but was really excited about getting it)...but ds2 and even dd1, to a lesser extent, are sugar junkies.

My kids also get a big basket of assorted fruit from my mom. They love that...but it is food.

Along with too much chocolate, some bunny grahams, cheddar bunnys and bunny fruit snack; DS will get in his basket:
  • A couple of books, story, sticker and activity.
  • Some small bouncing balls with water glitter and thins inside.
  • Some bandannas to keep his hair out of his eyes with out looking girly.
  • A pair of binoculars.
  • One of the "Made By Me" trains that I have left over from giving them out as favor at hi b-day party.
  • some finger puppets I got really cheap at Ikea.
  • A stuffed guinea pig.
  • Whatever else I have in my bag of stuff that I buy b/c it looks like something DS and is on a major discount sale would like that I hide for when I need something.

We also will have an egg hunt with plastic eggs filled with coins (cousins come over for this.)

We do bubbles, a kite for each, a new die cast thomas train (their current obsession), i fill plastic eggs with jelly beans (I know candy, I end up eating most of it..LOL). Sometimes I like little cars or small beachy toys for their sandbox. DS1 is getting a book as well.

The toothbrush is a good idea.

Their basket is full of outdoor stuff. Bubbles, bubble wands, chalk, and paint. We skip the candy all together and just fill it with this type of stuff!

Dd would be crushed without some candy; but we have teeth issues, sooo...

-a wind-up plush hopping bunny
-Easter lift-the-flap knock-knock joke book
-Folkmanis Easter bunny puppet
-some organic chocolate eggs
-a couple of Easter necklaces from Claire's
-a chick-shaped watering can
-lettuce and carrot seeds
-T-shirt with Easter rabbit on it (not too Easter-specific, so good for all summer)
-a spring outfit
-Playmobil in an egg

Other things too, I'm sure. I've been collecting things since right after last easter, mostly at 90% off. I really like the Easter bunny!
