astrology question - venus return?

so i read in tracy's pisces new moon article that venus enters taurus today, which rang a little bell for me. i checked my chart, and sure enough, my "natal" venus is at 23 degrees of taurus, so that means i have a "venus return" coming up, right?

i tried googling venus return, but didn't find much that i could grasp. what is a venus return all about? or is it not anything significant?

the Transits book i have has one paragraph on one page for Venus transits....it says that because it is so close to the sun it moves very quickly around the zodiac, and its effects are fleeting and can be used to indicate a good day, a minor upset, or a minor blessing...."it's not worth charting or worrying about..." (UNLESS "it retrogrades and stays in a 10 degree applying orb to an important configuration in your chart at a crucial time in your life.") and, "the effect of Venus will not be devastating."
so i think this is saying you have venus returns frequently and the influence is fleeting, effecting a day or so but not becoming a significant influence to contend with in an ongoing way.

She is correct... mercury and venus are very close to the sun and once a year they are in the sign they were when you (and everyone was born).
Progressions are how you track those planets.
Transits are more for the outter planets.
