Suggestion for anxious child?

My dd is 6 years old, and in the last few months, she's gotten very anxious/worried. I'm not talking about nervous to go up an stage or talk to someone she doesn't know tyoe anxiety. This is things like constant worry about the house burning down, an earthquake killing us all (I REALLY had to avoid media during the Haiti and Chile quakes), that her lip gloss might be toxic, that she forgot to wash her hands after she touched a plant at the park and then ate something and the plant might have been poisoness, obsessing over the sell by dates on food item (won't eat something if she sees the package and she can't read the date) etc. If you guys have ever seen the Showtime show Nurse Jackie, she reminds me of Jackie's oldest daughter. The women in my family have a history of anxiety/panic disorders, and I really feel like this is starting to manifest early in her.

Anyhow, I know I want to get her into see a therapist to start giving her ways to process her fears and anxieties, but we're coming up on a change of insurance in a couple of months, and I don't want to get her started with some one and have to switch because of insurance. The long and short of it is that I'm asking if anyone else here has dealt with this, and if anyone has any good online resources or books for me to start working with her on my own.

You might want to talk to your school guidance counselor - he/she should have some good, age appropriate resources.

good luck to you!
