HELP!!!! last easter egg filler for 7 year old

so this is going to be our last easter. i think. most probably. dd is 7 and is questioning too much.

she is a candy freak so i will do some gummies but what else?

she is tired of the little party toys like balls or tattoos.

i might do stickers, small interesting rocks, flowers, tiny toys if i can find some...

but how do i make the last easter egg hunt special?

she is an odd child so i have to come up with odd and unique ideas. seh loves anything miniature AND bookmarks which i can roll up and put in the egg. she loves my biology hand lens so i know i can fit one in the egg

the toddler toys are not going to work that i saw in the other threads. and i am kinda getting out of ideas.

why the last?

I know adults that still do them, they get harder to find the eggs as the children get older-still tons of fun

one thing is doing clues in eggs to finding a bigger gift that is hidden

I'm 33 and when I go home for Easter the Easter bunny still hides eggs. That's not weird now because I have kids. But honestly it never did stop, so there definitely was a time without a single child under the age of 24 in the house and hidden eggs. I think my parents tried to forget about it one year so my brothers and I just hid them for each other.

My friend and I are doing a hunt this year for our dc. Her ds is 7 like your dd. We're putting playmobil toys (our kids all love animals so we bought a few animal sets) and legos in the eggs. Since you mention a love of miniatures it makes me think that she might like Playmobil (all those cool tiny bits and pieces... I love them anyway, lol).

My DS1 who is almost 7 has requested that some eggs have money (coins) in them.

There's a thread somewhere around here where people suggested doing things like taking lego sets and putting parts into eggs. When the child has found all the eggs, they have the whole set. What is she interested in that could be like that? Legos? Jewelry making?

I second: Why the last? Ds is 8, going on 9. He doesn't 'believe' but he still loves the hunt for the easter eggs. The whole fun is finding them, not the believing part.

My ds never believed in the Easter Bunny, Santa, or the Tooth Fairy. But we still celebrate those occasions in traditional ways... I bet your dd would be hugely disappointed if you suddenly stopped because she didn't believe they were real.

In the other thread Lynn mentioned, someone suggested pieces of a puzzle. I suggested flower or vegetable seeds...

I'm off to the toy store to get some Schleiss animals (those plastic animal figurines from Germany) Plenty of small enough ones to fit in eggs.

I would really encourage you to not view this as the "last" easter egg hunt. We have kids aged newborn to late teens in our family, and I think the teens are the most enthusiastic participants in the egg hunt (it becomes a bit of a full contact sporting event, but they love it!). I think the point is that even when the kids don't believe in the fairy tale magic of an easter bunny, we can still make the magic for them.

As for ideas...how about some funky shoelaces? Or, have you seen the Japanese erasers that are shaped like food, animals, etc. They are tiny and pretty collectible. My kids love them!

woah!!! i dont come from an easter egg hunt tradition so i didnt know you carry on nevertheless.

so i wont view this as her last easter egg hunt.

however i still need ideas. oooh the funky shoes laces is a GREAT idea. alas those erasers. she loses them QUICKLY!!! but that reminds me to go to the asian gift store and look for stuff there. like chopstick holders for her chopsticks as long as they will fit in her eggs.

while puzzles and legos are a great idea they are not her passion.

oooh she has recently seriously started stitching. i can break up her kit and put parts of the kit in her egg to make the whole kit.

i like the mystery aspect of the hunt as she becomes an older kid.

thank you ladies. i am getting inspired.

Hair clips/bows etc
Beads and some elastic thread to make bracelets
lip balm
seeds to grow some flowers, edible ones maybe
little photo frames, maybe with stickers/glitter glue to decorate them
a little kite

We always have a pair of fancy socks in our Christmas stockings, they would fit into eggs too.

My DD loves little polished rocks, she has a small box of them and plays with them regularly.
