Weirdest thing your pet does??

Our dog keeps barking whenever someone passes gas.

I have three cats, 14yo, 5yo, and 8mo.

The 14yo can't meow. She opens her mouth wide and chirps....it's almost like a harsh squeak/bark.

5yo kitty makes snoring sounds while he's awake. I thought he might have asthma or something, but he apparently is just really comfy and sort of makes a quiet moan with each breath. Not all the time, but frequently.

Baby kitty stares at the phone. Often. When it rings, he comes bolting out of nowhere to gaze at it. When it's quiet, he sits there like he's waiting for a personal call, with his head tilted to the side. It's adorable!

Both posts made me actually LOL.

I know this is common, but we always chuckle about it...my Great Dane really gets into her dreams lol. As she's laying there, her legs/feet are kinda twitching, sometimes it looks like she's walking/running in Dreamland haha. She also will make these growl-y bark-y noises. Her tail will also thump the floor, in varying speeds.

My 5yo kitty was growling in his sleep a few weeks ago. Boy, did he sound vicious! I've hardly ever heard him growl while awake; he's such a sweetie, normally!

My dog never howls. One night we hear this strange sound, after seeking it out we find her sitting on the spare bed looking out the window howling. There was an ambulance coming (we couldn't hear it yet). She's never done it again since.

The one cat & the little dog play together all the time. But the cat mostly just lies there while the dog "attacks" him. At first we kept breaking it up, until we realized he actually is enjoying it & seeks the dog out. For awhile though we just thought the cat was really stupid to not run away when the dog was attacking him (ftr the two are only about 3lbs apart in weight).

My dog rarely eats her food at her bowl. She'll pick up 4-5 kibbles in her mouth, carry them to the front door, drop them on the carpet and then eat them. Then she'll go back to her bowl, grab a mouthful, carry it to the dining room and eat it there. Sometimes I find surprises beside my bed or under the table.

Also, whenever she feels "threatened", like when I horse around with her or chase her and she starts to get riled up, she will run away and return with her toy (stuffed animal, rawhide bone, squeaker etc.) as if it is going to protect her.

I guess it's also weird that her favourite foods are fruit. She loves bananas, mangoes and avocadoes... once I didn't share my banana with her, and when I took the last bite, she jumped up on my lap and tried getting it out of my mouth.

I'm sure there are many more... she's a character!!

(and btw. if you were picturing a little lapdog here... she is a 6 year old German Shepherd.)

One of my dogs will lick the back door (It's a sliding glass door) when she wants to come back in... Sometimes she will press her nose against it, then slide her face down and it exposes her teeth and looks really crazy. She can also jump up to look over our 6 foot fence from standing still, and she's short! Our neigbors have commented about the head popping up, and when they see her whole body they are amazed it's the same dog. I could tell funny stories about her all day. She's a Border Collie/Corgi X and pretty nuts. If the green waste can or a big box or something is in the backyard, she will circle it for as long as she is out there, keeping her eye on it so it doesn't go anywhere! lol She finally got used to the swingset...

One of my cats loves to lick plastic bags. The other eats any kind of green veggie I leave on the table while I am putting groceries away, she leaves bite marks in the leeks and kale!

I'm not sure I could EVER come up with the "funniest." They are all so silly in their own way.

We have 5 cats, all siblings. Only two are male, and one of them I call my "supermodel": he has a beautiful, thick black coat, very green eyes, big white fangs, muscular build, the works. But (similar to 2xy's story), he squeaks! Mouth-wide-open, little scratchy meow-squeak comes out. It's hilarious. He is actually capable of a very feminine, "mrrraow-wow-wow" kind of sound if he is running to catch up with you and wants you to slow down. That's it.

Our American Pit Bull Terrier is crazy about all 5 cats AND the pygmy goat. The cats (especially the male mentioned before) love her and will sometimes sleep in her doghouse with her (she usually sleeps indoors, though). The goat (Greta) is lonely because, well, she's a herd animal with no herd. She was pregnant when we bought her but miscarried, so she has no goat-buddies around. She FINALLY broke the communication barrier with the APBT last weekend... the dog finally stopped running away when Greta would "charge" her and realized, "hey! She's playing with me!" Now they play and play and play. I've never seen anything like it before. They are approximately the same size so it's working out ok. But Greta seriously needs some goat friends.

The APBT is also completely terrified of a baby gate. She honestly seems to think it's out to kill us all. We had been using it for several weeks to block her out of the carpeted areas -- some nights she's stinky and we just don't want her funk in the carpet -- when, one night as I got up to check out a strange noise, I tripped over the thing and it and myself came crashing to the floor inches away from her bed. The house was on blocks so of course the whole place rattled. That did it. She won't even approach the thing now, 2 years later. It might as well be 10ft high and covered in razor wire.

I have 4 cats, ages almost 6, almost 3 and 2.

Amelia - my 3yo Maine Coon comes jumps into our bed every night at 3am or 4am just to knead us. She kneads our bellies, our backs, my legs. The whole time she does this weird chirping and purr noise. She is also VERY attached to two toys that we have had since my two boy cats were babies 6 years ago. She carries them around, drops them off a half wall near our steps and then chases them, all while meowing at them and chirping. Then she brings them to me as an offering. She is also obsessed with plastic bags and zucchini. If I leave a whole zucchini out for more than a minute I will find teeth marks in it.

Duncan - he is my first cat. I've had him since he was 1 day old. He's a grey tiger domestic shorthair, very slender and VERY athletic. He has a supermodel attitude - he knows he is tall and graceful. This cat can jump very high and VERY far. He loves me after I wash my hair. He loves to rub his face in my wet hair and purr away.

Gawain - I got him when Duncan was about 10 weeks old. They are the same age. He found me in the barn at my old clinic. He is the sweetest thing, but I think he is missing a good part of his brain. He has this look about him that reminds me of Ralphie from the Simpsons. He loves to lay on the most uncomfortable things - like shoes, my husbands 50lb dumbbell, the base of the pedestal fan, on top of hard wooden toys or plastic trucks. It just looks so uncomfortable, but he has been like that since he was a baby. He's my biggest cat and has this very kitten-like baby voice. And he has a snaggle tooth.

Amber - she is my 2 yo one-eyed Persian that I rescued from a disgusting breeder. She is 6lbs with all her fur and 5 lbs without. She is currently naked thanks to Ds petting her with hands full of oatmeal. What a mess. Anyway. This 5lb cat rules the house. All of the other cats are double her size, but she is feisty and will wrestle any of them and win. She also attacks clothes. I can't put clothes on the bed because she tries to kill them. She will also drag a heavy queen-size comforter around the house. She also has a bathroom fetish and MUST accompany you into the bathroom whenever you go. If you dare close the door on her she will paw and cry at the door. When in there, she just sits in front of you and watches you go. It's a little creepy.

All four cats are a sad sight when we have a bug in the house. We get stinkbugs, spiders and those house centipedes. I believe they have killed a total of two bugs in 6 years - I'm thinking those two bugs were on their way out. It's so pathetic to watch. They sit and stare, chirp and chatter and try soooooo hard to catch them and it's always an epic fail. I mean...do you know how slow stink bugs move?

My dog freaks for my homemade bread, he acts like it is steak or something.

Also he loves baths, I will be showering and look down and he is in the shower with me, loves bathing with the kids and when I take relaxing baths he likes to relax in the bath with me.

my ring tone for receiving a text is a doorbell and every time i get a text my dog runs to the front door barking.

we dont actually have a doorbell, so i have no idea where she learned to equate the sound with a visitor...

Both of these made me laugh out loud. My son is looking at me like I'm nuts.

My kitten tries to chew through bread bags. I don't know why he wants the bread so badly.

Ours leaves the room; I think less from the smell than because she knows she'll get blamed for it.

These have all made me laugh.

Our dog, Britta, will find bread, rolls, biscuits and carry them around the house- she doesn't eat the bread. Maybe she likes the smell?

One of our dogs is bizarre.

-She audibly farts when she runs down stairs. Like one little toot for each step of the way. She's not even old- 18 months!!!

-She lays under the window with the curtain panel draped over her head like a wig. I'll upload a photo when i get home and have access to iPhoto (at work right now).

My oldest cat knows when ANY new thing enters the house (new clothes, new groceries, new furniture, new piece of freaking paper) and she walks up to it slooooowly, slowly, then SMACKS it as hard as she can either 3 or 5 times, then walks away like everything's cool.

She did this to my son to the other day (no claws out):

poor thing felt cornered!

My little cat Coco is a drooler. Ewwwww..... And I think she secretly wants to nurse me.

My ex-cat Jude was a water cat, he would even sit in the sink with my dishes while I washed them and lay to the side and smack the water coming down!

They bark at people giving me things (mailman, other deliveries) but ignore people taking stuff from me (freecyclers).

And one of them snaps at non existant flies, but apparently it's actually mini seizures. She's not bothered, I'm not bothered, the vet's not bothered, so we leave it.

My cat is in love with one of my fleece sweatshirts. Whenever I wear it she suddenly has an obsessive need to be on me, kneading me, burying her face in my armpits while smelling deeply, and licking/nursing the fleece, all while purring loudly. If I push her off, it's not long until she's right back on me trying it again. I like my sweatshirt but haven't been able to wear it since I got pregnant because she kept touching my sore boobs during these activities.

love these!

my husband and i have distinctive ringtones for each other on our cell phones so we know it's the other calling. my dog knows my ringtone on my husband's phone and howls when she hears it and runs to the front door going crazy until i come inside.

she's learned that sound means i'm calling to say i'm outside and he has to come move his car. i park in the garage and we have a narrow driveway and he has to move for me to get in the garage.

she will also jump in any lake, puddle, river, etc she gets close to but god forbid it rains - she doesn't want to go outside. so it's perfectly fine for her to be soaked but not if it's falling on her vs her jumping into it.

I no longer have this cat but he used to be obsessed with socks and gloves. He'd carry them around like babies making an odd howling sound. He was obsessed with a pair of my brother's gloves and would dig them out no matter where my brother left them.
