I think it looks great. Will probably piss a whole bunch of people off, but that might draw more attention to it which is a good thing. Hey phathui5, I'm from Syracuse, too :-D
Oh wow, I have got to see that. I breastfed through billions of questions & odd looks when DS was a babe. now many of the odd-starers (my actual family ) have sent folks to me for bf support. I am so proud of sticking to my guns about bf-ing & it has led the way to my being able to support other moms in my community
I signed up for their FB page maybe a week ago--they're sending out updates. Can't wait to see this! Hopefully it makes a nice big splash like the Business of Being Born did.
I'd like to watch it with some other mothers and Leaders around here. I just contacted them about shipping to China!
The website looks great, and it probably will have the effect of "pissing some people off" as one PP put it. Oh well, that's life.
One question, though. One thing that really grabbed my attention was the HUGE aisle with a tonne of different brands of formula and all the different sizes that they showed at the beginning. I don't live in America, so I don't know how realistic that is. Is that a common sight? To see that much formula at the store and in such huge sizes?
Wow! That's just crazy to me. We have formula in grocery stores and pharmacies, too, but I've never seen more than about 5-7 feet of shelving dedicated to it, and it's usually just the bottom two shelves that have formula. Perhaps a wholesale-type store like Costco might have more, but the regular grocery stores don't.
Knowing this makes me even more interested in seeing this film. I knew formula is big in America, but having such a supply in the store shows just how true that is.
Let me tell you that there are other places in the world where they're working on this, too. In our local Auchan (supermarket chain from France) in Suzhou there's a whole aisle for formula and it isn't just for babies. It covers everything from pregnant women, babies, toddlers, preschool- and schoolkids, adults, senior citizens.
Anyway, back to the original topic!
Another mom and I used to wonder how you choose a formula- some have additives to enhance eyesight, others brain development, etc. Eyes over brains? What a choice.
And there isn't any formula that "enhances" anything. All any formula does is try to come close to the normal development that breastfeeding facilitates. And they all fail miserably.

This (well... a similar rendition of this) just became my facebook status.
