It turned out to be a very nice April Fool's day. We ended up having dinner with some friends. Our kids get along so well, and are just the best of friends.

I am drifting in as right now I am overwhelmed a bit.

DH and I are having some really communication issues which came to a fiery head last night. Its how he is talking to the kiddos especially Jack as its in a very hurtful manner because Jack is saying how much he doesn't like DH right now.

Ugh is just the way I am feeling and hopefully it will disapate sooner than later with the next new moon.

I hope everyone is enjoying the wonderful weather outside, yay for crawling babies (I love that stage) and hugs all around.

I've been there with my DH and my Jack, it's so hard to watch. Sometimes I have to remind dh that Jack is still a child, and doesn't necessarily have the common sense that we have about certain situation. Of course not hes 8 he's got to learn that. And then I try to give them a break from each other, to chill out. But it's so hard to watch, and hear, and try to make it right.

I'm fine but royally pissed. One of my coworkers has decided that it isn't his job to answer the phone or get the (security-locked) door, even though he has fewer tasks to do. So I get to do it.
I stood up to run around finding people (who are too busy to answer personal calls anyways ) and pulled something in my side. So, I'm hobbling around bent over, and he's laughing cuz the phone messages are ridiculous.

Where's the "Psycho" stabbing-knife smilie?

As for the woman who got terminated... she has been pretty quiet, so we're thinking she just got over blowing smoke...

It is such a beautiful day today, I just can't spend it inside. The kids and I put a dinning room table outside on the porch and I can't wait to use it. I spend every moment outside when I can.

Pigs don't sweat, except right on their snout. Sometimes when my pigs are hot they get beads of sweat on their noses, but it's not enough to keep them cool so they lay in dirt or kid pools

Hi everyone!! Well my arm and shoulder from where I fell have been in constant pain since the fall. Pretty sure I threw something out in my back with that too, but we'll be at the inlaws Sunday and stepFIL is a chiropractor so that will be painful but helpful. Finally caved and took the last of the hydocodine that I had left over from dental work and am now working on the house while I can. I'm tellin ya, ma shoulda named me Grace!

The Nature Resource Center planning is coming along nicely. This is what I envision it to be: I want a nature preserve around 100 acres with walking trails, a campsite area and a private area away from public access for rituals and such. Adjacent to that will be the educational facility. In it will be a small area kind of like a museum with local wilderness stuff (though I'll pass on stuffed animal heads, etc. thanks!). It will be a large building and will have a hexagonal auditorium where rituals can be held, speakers can perform, etc. Classes will be held in the facility on things like organic gardening, natural cleaners, etc. One wing will be donated to the local Pagan organization. Outside in the "yard" I want to see a large community gardens, a greenhouse, a nice botanical gardens full of native plants, and a firepit. Basically it's meant to be a Pagan retreat area, but no where will the actual facility mention Pagan. Many of the classes offered will appeal to Pagan and non-Pagan populations. My hope is that 1. Pagans in the area will have a safe and welcoming place to go and develop a sense of community, 2. those who wish not to be known as Pagan will still have a place they can go and 3. to facilitate good relations with the non-Pagan community and the Pagan community. Lot's of work, but it's coming along!

weather here- it hit 88. Which is insane. It should be a more seasonal 65-ish this weekend though. Loving the sun, but I do hope the spring evens out a bit more so the plants/animals know what is going on!

Health- spent yesterday in bed (DH stayed home) and feel much better today. I've had this phlem/cough cold for a few days but I'm pretty sure the march31/april 1 horror was food poisoning. No one else was affected and I was a mess.

Oh! I did find a fun saying though, sitting up with my bucket... Terry Pratchett (in Unseen Academicals) uses the phrase "sick as a parrot". The footnote (you knew there'd be a footnote!) says:

According the Fletcher's Avian Nausea Index, parrot sickness stands at number five in the 'wishing yourself dead' index. The highest level of sickness is suffered by the great Combovered Eagle which can vomit over three countries at once.

So, put me at parrot and call it a day.

Our Ostara seeds have sprouted! Well, the sunflowers have. The pumpkins are a bit behind, but they've popped up too. Yay!

At mom's on her computer, which is new, and I can't navigate it at all. The mouse is some newfangled thing with no buttons, and the keyboard has no backspace or up-down-home-end buttons

LOOOOONG-arse drive. Around 7.5 hours w/o stops, but it took us 8.5 with stops and a huge traffic jam just as we hit 64E. Grrrr.

i have a question... it is a bit embarrassing for me. money is very very tight here. i am constantly worrying about it. we make too much for assistance (like food stamps) but we could apply for WIC. it would help alot with our food bills. would you do it? we make less then a family of 6 is suppose to make and qualify for WIC. what do you think?

I had WIC when I was a new mother, we were in the military. I could honestly say that I would love to have it now, but I'm pretty sure we don't qualify.

Have you noticed at your grocery stores a lot of things you could use that are WIC approved? I had a hard time finding cereals I liked, and wasn't really pleased with the types of cheeses I could pick from.

Sunshine, that is some vision you have! I would love to have something like that near where we live, too (I like Sunrise for the name).

That is a LONG trip, Maia! We did a four hour trip to visit dh for the weekend in the small northeast-of-us town where he is working. Such pretty, pretty country here, lots of trees, little lakes, rolling hills.

I could really see myself living here, which is good because we might be, someday. Except that dh is now talking about changing jobs again, following a boss he likes who is maybe jumping ship. Grounding and centering. What will be, will be....but even in leafless, dirty-brown early spring, those little houses in the bush that we could see from the road are *really* looking like home to me....

In the car, we listened to a really well-done and fun book-on-CD from the library of Thor's Wedding Day, a chapter book that draws on Norse mythology. My 6 yr. old is loving it, 3 yr old enjoys it well enough that there were no complaints about not having our old portable dvd player along (broken).

For the trip home, we have another book-on-CD of Neil Gaiman's Odd and the Frost Giants
. Really looking forward to that one.

mamaofthree: I had nothing but trouble with wic. They wanted to weigh my son; do a lead test on him, etc. I couldn't buy healthy foods. Couldn't get organic foods.
It was a waste.
I've heard that what you can get differs with each state so it might be better where you are.

At one point, they told me that my son was overweight. He had just seen his pediatrician 2 days before and was UNDERWEIGHT! My son has always been very thin. Wic wouldn't let me take the layers (including sweater, coat, and winter boots) off ds before weighing him.

I was on WIC when I had my babies. It was great, helped us so much. I didn't have any problems with it.
