Your garden sounds lovely, very ambitious kelly!! I have been working in mine lately. Weeded the asperagus patch and covered with manure and hay. Threw some perennial seeds in another bed. And have been weeding another flower bed (have the crocuses and tulips up right now) and started some seedlings: pumpkin, broccoli, snapdragons, buttercrunch lettuce, lavender, and basil. We'll also be direct sowing, nasturtiums, zinnias, cosmos, peas, pole beans, cukes, beets, and soon I may start some tomato seedlings.

Alicia, glad to hear your separation is getting a bit better! The 30 day shred is pretty intense. Its definitely good to tone those deep muscles before you work on the superficial ones.

Sounds like a nice vaca Katie!!

Kelly- you rock that bikini this summer! Love baby bellies and bikinis.

Happy April!! I just love spring and am am warm, sunny weather lover. I hope to get my Vit D all from the sun these days!

Yay for all the weight loss ladies. I really need to get in shape. I have a PT test coming up in a month and I can barely do the minimum sit ups

Toddler-Oh MY! DD gets into everything, loves to empty drawers. Have to watch her so closely. Today she dove out of the bath tub, didn't hurt herself at all but was surprised . Sleep is still not good, but I took the kids on a long road trip (by myself) and we stayed with family so everything got thrown off for both kids. DD is walking more and more, very glad because she loves playing outside and her clothes are getting really dirty and worn in the knees. I asked my mom not to buy anymore light colored clothes because I cannot get the stains out.

DD is so much fun. She is smiley and loves to be around people. She can do her own thing and explore for periods of time then lets us know its time for attention. She loves to give hugs and will hug dogs, cats, other kids and babies. She is pointing at everything and since she started has stopped screaming so much. She does throw a tantrum every once in awhile and lays on the ground face down, it is hard not to laugh.

Auraji,
So sorry about the camera. I hope you didn't try to turn it on! If you didn't, there may still be hope! I'm not certain it will work with a camera, but it might (and with one as expensive as that, it's worth a shot, right?)... Anyway, you take the camera and put it in a bag or box of rice, fully covered for about 3 days. The rice is supposed to draw the moisture out and dry the internal mechanisms. Hoping it will work!

We-re still nightweaning... instead of doing three days of "stage one" we did a week. May do a week of "stage two", too. But last night was the first night of that, no feeding just cuddling. Went really well, she actually slept great-- went down at about 8 pm, woke up once around midnight and snuggled back to sleep in fifteen minutes or so, then slept right on through to 7:30. I've noticed her appetite picking up more during the day to compensate, and she's definitely ready for some nursing and some solids when she wakes up (for breakfast today she ate a whole piece of toast, half an egg, and a handful of strawberries, on top of a nursing session). All in all she's taking to it very well. I found that the timing of her nap really does affect how she does at night. Ideally she'll go down for her nap at noon, and sleep for an hour or two. Then up until bedtime at 7:30. If she gets that well-timed nap, she goes down easily at night and only wakes up once or twice, if at all.

We found a cheap easy fix for this. I have a hook screwed into the wall about 3 inches from the pantry handle (go up if you can't go sideways) and an elastic tied to the pantry handle. I just hook up the elastic and the kids can't get into the pantry any more. DD was finding all the junk food and eating it for breakfast in the mornings before DH and I got up.

Im jealous of you and your gardens. I should get a gardening book or something, I've always wanted one, but know absolutely nothing about gardening. I can only water plants lol

Jacqueline, dumb me did try to turn it on , so I guess it's all ruined but maybe I could still try that?

Oh and I never wearing a bikini again, got stretch marks on the sides and Im too self conscious about them. They're only a couple. I cant wait to start driving to join the Y, with my insurance if I go 18 times I pay 2 dollars every time and then they'll pay the rest of the year so I definitely want to do that.
I would try it. take the battery out first though.
nak- bum in face foot on shoulder
I will still try it, but not gonna get my hopes up. I did already take out the batteries because well, logic told me to lol

I hate that there's no good public transportation around here. I just found out about what seems like a "cool" job. It's for a toy company that it's like legos, K'nex. I dont know much about them, but they're looking for someone to work in customer service part time. It's a 7 min drive from where we live, but a 40 min walk, which doesnt work considering I'd probably had to walk Sophia to whatever daycare I choose.

The grocery store is looking for people. I know I'll hate working there with a passion, but it's a part-time job. I asked and they said they were looking for people from 10pm-6am, so I guess since it's part time that would only happen a couple days a week? Im gonna ask on Monday to a manager what is it like, because that way we wouldnt need any daycare/babysitter. DP can just stay with DD.

I hate finding jobs that Im qualified for, but have no way of getting there , even if I got my license tomorrow, we still need to fix the car.

I have a question - Most of the cheerios I find are honey nut cheerios which means they have honey and almond butter. Now my Ped's pamphlets' always stress not to give honey to my DD and almond is a nut NOT to be given to LOs until past their one year (even with no allergies). So how come so many of us give cheerios so freely?

Regular cheerios do not contain those ingredients I believe. And cheerios can be a generic term, like for Trader Joe O's.

I spent about 5 hours tonight in the ER with Liam. He managed to fracture his thumb clear through in two places. He got ahold of a hand weight from under the couch and was "exercising" and somehow managed to drop it on his thumb. He was such a trooper, his insanely high pain tolerance helps. He's in a temporary cast until Monday when we go back to see the ortho's. I just cannot believe this would happen right at the end, like it's the final culminating act of this deployment. I seriously can't take anymore insanity.

Ouch poor Liam! I saw the pictures he looked completely fine in all of them! I was impressed. I hope it's not too bad and isnt it crazy how sometimes EVERYTHING happens?

Katie - big !

Gardening... I started my seedlings and they have grown so fast! They are huge now and I'm worried I started them too early. It might be another week before I'm ready to plant them... Might be restarting I guess. This will be my first garden so I'm not getting my hopes up.

DH is working nights on the weekends, so it gets a bit lonely around here! Strangely, Olivia is always super easy to put to bed while he's gone. Just nurses to sleep and stays asleep for hours! I almost don't know what to do with all this free time! (probably should be catching up on sleep or doing something more useful then eating pretzels and surfing the internet...)

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We didn't do much for easter, we are big into it (especially with DH on nights) but I did "hide" eggs for Olivia. I put those yogurt melts - freeze dried yogurt inside for her. The dog likes these too, apparently.

Olivia is also walking about as much as she is crawling now. She's faster at crawling but always wants to walk everywhere, and can even make a turn! Her steps are like a little sumo wrestler, so cute!

Katie--yikes! Poor little guy--sounds painful.

We just got back from my mom & stepdad's and I am SO glad to be home! It was a 5 hour drive back and Luke was just not happy in the carseat. He slept for the first two hours, which was great, except he's in a convertible seat (rear-facing, of course) and his head flops forward while he sleeps, so I was holding it back the whole time. And then, he woke up and cried...we stopped to nurse...cried...ate pineapple...cried...ate cheerios...cried...ate more pineapple...cried...etc. He was so glad to get back to his bed--he just rolled around and giggled for a good 10 minutes.

Ldavis24 - Hope the dental stuff worked out well and you're not in pain!

Comtessa - there are times I realize I'm still not over DD1's birth, moments like that are crappy.

cheryllynn - My anna has had a cough and flowing nose for going on three weeks. My other two girls were sick at first too, but they are over it now, just Anna it seems to be lingering on.
j_p_i - I'm jealous of your gift o' legs! I would be in heaven if someone gave me a years worth of crab. for growth spurts.

Yep, that's Anna to a T

I grab him and set him back on the floor and he is immediately pulling all the towels out of my kitchen drawer. I put them back and turn my back and he is on his belly licking at some sticky spot on the floor. Wipe up the spot with a cloth and he is eating the crust from ds1's pbj. Take that away and open the cupboard to the trash, get distracted and he is rummaging through the trash. Meanwhile ds1 is looking for another snack or asking me to open the gate to let him into the kitchen. And G is pulling all the coats and shoes off the rack, and eating the little dirt clods that come off the shoes.......

and this is a 10 minute span.
anyone else have any good stories like that?
I just love eating the spot on the floor. I remember feelinglike that with my other girls, but now I have another set of eyes to help. DD1 is great about keeping Anna in line Oh, and happy birthday in case I forget!

Kelly1101 - Love the pics!

CookAMH - Anna has raw milk regularly. My supply is so low when I go work DH had to use it instead, and she loves stealing sister's cups

AH! poor kiddo. just a little bit longer! Hang in there!

Gardening - I miss my garden. We had chickens in the space last year, but the two previous years we had gardens that took up a LARGE section of our yard. I loved doing it, but we decided we really need grass if we are going to sell this house So this summer I will be watering mud and praying the grass spreads

Night feeding - she feeds ALL NIGHT LONG. She doesn't feed during the day. She does 90% of her feeding at night. She starts around 7, finally asleep around 9, then constantly throughout the night. Last night she kept me up all night cause I couldn't get comfy. During the day she gets distracted by everything and won't focus on nursing. By 7 pm my boobs are screaming cause they hurt so much.

Weight - I am at the lowest weight I've been in 7-8 years, about 30 lbs lighter than my pre p weight, but I've hit a plautea. Not because my body has, but because my will power has. I am eating much more, but I am just so hungry. sticking to a 1000-1400 calorie diet is soooo hard to do indefinately, so I have taken the month of march off of it basically. I'm starting back on that tomorrow (ask me again in a couple of days, I'll probably say the same line ) Someone mentioned a bikini and a tiger mauling - yeah... that's me too. I don't think I could ever get away with some of the clothes I did before.

I know we talked about libido before and there were some ladies that said they weren't feeling it either. FWIW - I started supplementing Iodine, Selenium, and taking a multi vit as well and I can feel a difference in my libido already. It's so wierd to find out a low libido is linked with hypothyroidism. Wish I'd talked to a dr about that before now maybe the last few months would have been more fun

Happy Easter or Spring, whichever you may be celebrating today

I look back now trying to figure out how we made a two day drive to florida when DD2 was this age, I can't imagine doing that again
post #37 of 238
Just a quick note: I drove to WI from VA, about a 14 hr drive, with BOTH kids (4 yo and 10 m) last week, by myself. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. DD slept a lot and I would pass things like toys, food, sippy cups back to my 4 yo and he would hand them to DD. I split the drive each way and we took a long lunch each day so they had AM, lunch, and evening time to run around/play. I was surprised at how well my 4 yo did at entertaining himself and DD. We do not have a DVD in our van. I drank a lot of coffee and am trying to wean myself off again.

Lotus-so sorry to hear about ER trip!

Sick-DD is constantly battling colds. She goes to daycare. Today she had a fever and was pulling her ears I put garlic oil in her ears and by the end of the day her fever was gone. I don't want to take her to the DR because I know they will prescribe antibiotics.

I have no idea what we will do for DD's Bday, or how big. We are fly by the seat of our pants type people so whatever we do it will be last minute!

Sorry to hear that, hope he heals quickly.

It is so HOT. 80's past few days, supposed to go into the 90's tomorrow. But of course no pools open for another two months, and the water at the beach is still too cold. Grrrrr.

In good news, got another package of clothes today-- seriously I'm getting so spoiled with having the only baby in the generation. I have an aunt in Georgia who only ever had one child, a boy, and he's not married and looks like not giving her any grandchildren any time soon. And my aunt always wanted to have a little girl and buy cute girl outfits... AND she works in this like "baby boutique" with all of this ridiculous designer-label baby clothes. So like every few months she sends us these huge boxes full of these clothes that are like WAY nicer than anything I have in my own wardrobe, rotfl. Won't let us give her anything for them, so I usually just take a bunch of pictures of Emma when she's wearing some of the clothes, and send them to her.

Still doing good at night, she'll wake up once and lay chest-to-chest on top of me for a few minutes and go back to sleep, other than that she's sleeping right through, 8 pm - 7 am. After she falls asleep I still can't do a LOT, because we're still in this teeny tiny one-bedroom apartment for another four months, and she's a light sleeper. But at least I can fix a snack, read a book, spend some time with my husband, etc. It is SUCH a relief, because she has napped really horribly for months now and I've been going nuts from having NO adult time. It will probably get worse in the fall when the new baby comes, so getting some in now is pretty awesome.

Auraji - I am so sad to read about your camera. I know how it feels to lose something like that and have no way to replace it. I sure hope drying it out will work. I might take it to a repair place and see what they might be able to do with it.

thumb - ER visit - OUCH. Poor baby.

No gardens here. I used to, then neighbors started spraying their lawn with chemicals so that pretty much ruined my organic veggie garden. It's only flower boxes for us.

Love clothes fairies - they are extra special. We received a box of three cute summer dresses for DD plus a swim suit.

Speaking of swim suit, we took Olivia to her first swim 'lesson' which was very much fun for us. Olivia did OK, not really sure about the whole thing, but never cried either. Seven more Saturday mornings.

Still coughing.
No teeth yet.
