Does ibuprofen thin blood?

I googled but I find one website that says yes and another that says no. I have type 1 Von Willebrand disease, so it's a form of hemophillia.

I have been put on 10 mg of muscle relaxant (forget the name) three times a day. Along with the muscle relaxant I am to take 600 mg of ibuprofen three times a day. So it's above clinical doses.

I have been getting weird feelings in my head since I started on this medicine. Almost feels like there's butterflies fluttering around in my head. It's strange. I don't know if it even has anything to do with the meds.

Hmmm.. I'm trying to remember. My dad takes Warfarin (blood-thinner) and I believe he's not supposed to also take ibuprofen. I'm assuming because it also thins the blood? Hold on... I'll go check for you.

Yes, a quick search does seem to show that ibuprofen also thins the blood (and as I thought it is contraindicated for those taking Warfarin).

I suggest getting back in contact with your HCP as soon as possible to ask about it.

BTW - What is the name of the muscle relaxant?

ETA I also found this: If you have von Willebrand disease, do not take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as aspirin or ibuprofen, without talking to your health care provider.

Yes, it does. When DS was born I had to take coumadin for 8 weeks post-partum. My CNM had prescribed ibuprofen as well, and the pharmacist wouldn't even let us take home both of those prescriptions!

The drugs might be causing your symptoms, but probably not because they're thinning your blood, I would guess.
