I don't know anyone who would pronounce it Jor-jee-ah, though. Most Americans say Jor-jah. Those other names have a definite "ee-ah" sound at the end.

I don't really care for the name, but then I don't like the name George nor any of it's other feminine derivatives (Georgette, Georgina, etc.) I don't know any children who have George-based names.

Really, it's what YOU think that matters, anyway.

Haha, my 3 year old niece is named Georgia Rae (Last name)! To be fair though, my older half brother grew up in the deep south, as did his wife. Thankfully my other niece's name is Taylor Paisley (Last name), so it's not a débutante theme

Personally, it's not my style, and I don't particularly like it very much. I love my niece, so therefore I suppose I like the name on her, since it fits her, but we all call her GR (as in, pronouncing each initial). Thankfully, we overlooked brother and SIL's slip up (and Auntie Kayla's slip up for mentioning that Paisley would be a cute middle name), and call Taylor "Miss T" instead of TP

I like the name Georgia, but it's fairly common so it's not a name I would personally consider.

I like other place names too, but avoid the ones that I have a connection to. I love the name Adelaide, but I used to live in Adelaide (Aus) so I nixed it. DD's middle name is Matilda (family name) and I would have loved to have given it to her as a first name but I thought it would be hokey considering I am an expat Aussie.

I LOVE this name. Unfortunately, DH does not. I have only ever known one Georgia. A sweet little blondie second grader who loved to read.

One of my DDs is Georgia; it is in honor of a family member. While we only knew one other Georgia when we named her, it's definitely rising in popularity here in the Midwest. The babysitter at my gym knows 3 Georgias under the age of 3.

That said, we haven't run across any others in person.

Just make sure you're OK with the connotations it brings... all things southern. Personally, I don't care for the southern traditions (which is most likely why I live in the Pacific NW, just a different ilk of person I suppose!) so that's something to think about.

My daughter's friend is named Georgia. I think it's cute. It makes me think of the song "Georgia on my mind," peaches, and a street in our city (which dd thinks is funny because it is named after her friend).

I think its a super cute name. I tend to gravitate toward the older names such as Charlotte, Eleanor, Adeline, Alice, Evangeline...etc. Names that my DP considers to be old lady names. LOL.

However, seems the trend is such that these names are coming back into popularity. If you love the name, go for it! But keep in mind she may be one of 3 in her class.
