adjusting baby's schedule?

DS is 7 weeks old. Clearly, too young to be put on any sort of "schedule." But he has started to sleep one 4-5 hour block. The trouble is, this block often starts at 6 in the evening, obviously much earlier than I can go to sleep. Is there anything I can do to encourage it to start later? I haven't had much success waking him to eat -- if he's not interested, he just nuzzles the nipple and then goes back to sleep.

i started keeping my lo up during the day just a little longer than usual for a few days. eventually we worked it out so she goes to bed at 9pm - mostly by her lead. i don't usually follow her until 11 or 12, but at least 9's a decent hour!

You can keep it bright and noisy for the hours that you want her awake. Also, you can start pushing back her bedtime by a few minutes per day until it's a bit later.

When my DD was born she didn't fall asleep until 10:30-11:00pm each night. Once she was a couple of months old I started working it back the other way so that she'd be asleep by 8:00. It took a few weeks, but it did happen easily and sort of naturally. Good luck!

With ds his "schedule" was always changing so much that by the time I tried to "fix" something he'd moved onto something different. After awhile I learned my lesson & just went with the flow - it won't last forever.
