You can get the $350 4500 model, plus a new BPA-free container for $39 on amazon. However, I haven't yet confirmed that the container is compatible with the 4500 model. If it is, then for $389 you get a brand new, bpa-free vitamix blender. Way cheaper than $500+ new.

I've been considering one for a long time...kicking myself for not getting it when QVC has easy-pay....I loves me some interest-free, no qualifying, short-term payments on things like that!

If anyone finds out about their compatibility, I'd love to hear about it.

I'd just email vitamix to check and see if they're compatible or not, but I'd think so (or if not that they'd sell some sort of bpa-free container for the 4500). I'm almost postive I emailed them about the bpa-free container fitting the 5000 a while back and they said yes.

It doesn't replace the food processor as it works too well. I chop onions and carrots in the processor for various dishes and the vitamix turned it to a juicy pulp.

I used it more when it was new and in the summer. In makes a terrific green smoothie; you won't believe what it cad do with fresh kale and frozen raspberries.

I wish I had the but butter container (short and squat) but cannot justify the $$ when I have the food processor sitting right next to it.

It is a blender on steroids, I haven't stopped it up yet. Like all blenders, keep it unplugged on the counter so the little ones can't flip it on.

Ohhh... I want a VitaMix so badly! I can't justify the cost at this time, but *drool*

A reconditioned 5200 is still cheaper at $379

I've been to the vitamix website, and they don't have any reconditioned ones right now - at least, not that I've found. Is there somewhere else I should be checking for that?
