Flip Questions.

--Is the Flip organic insert really just a glorified prefold dipe sewn together? Because that's what it looks like in the picture...does it have any moisture wicking capability at all, or is it just cotton like an Indian prefold?

--Has anyone done anything to their Flips to make the insert attach to the cover temporarily? I was thinking of attaching some velcro or something. My DH hates the Flip dipes because he can't keep the cover and insert straight on our wiggly DD.

I have not done that, but it could work! I was surprised when I first got them that there was no "magic" sticking velcro or other textile product.

the organic insert is like a glorified prefold, yes.

it basically is a prefold, only its stitched so you can fold it one of two ways, depending on what size you have the cover adjusted to. i like the organic flip inserts better than regular prefolds because they are softer, but honestly i don't think there's a big difference. they are very absorbant though, which i like. what do you mean by wicking? are you looking for something that will have a dry layer against baby's skin, like microfleece? it is cotton, so it will feel damp when wet. if you change the baby frequently though, it's not a big deal.

Yes, I meant something that feels dry-ish to the baby. I tried some really nice GMD prefolds in the beginning and DD pretty much said no WAY to feeling wet so often. She also got little red bumps, so I switched to BG 3.0s and haven't had that since. I guess a stay-dry option is best for us. I just heard the organic Flip insert was super-duper absorbent, and thought about trying some. But I can just fold up my prefolds under the stay-dry insert, maybe, to get a solution for overnight, so she doesn't feel the wet.

I'm thinking of the Flips for overnight. Right now we use one sposie at night, and while it works great, I don't love the idea of using sposies. Although my DH HATES the way Flip inserts don't attach to the cover because he can't easily get it on our LO.

I was looking at Best Bottom dipes, too, because those attach to the cover. But with the Flips I can use my Mothering coupon. Hmm...

you can also just cut up some strips of fleece and lay that on top of a trifolded prefold.

Yep....it is an organic prefold...I like them but my hubby has the same frustration.

Yes, my DD is getting especially wiggly lately. Not even wiggly...she actually flips over in about half a second and is crawling away. DH truly thinks she should lie still, on her back, patiently waiting...

Well, I ordered a Flip day pack. I hope I don't regret it! I found a review that compared Flip and Best Bottoms, and the Flip won out. The main thing that led me to Best Bottoms was the snap-in insert. But I guess I will just try to deal with it. I don't know how mamas deal with prefolds on wiggly babies! I don't think I could do that very well.
