Make your own lotion?

Does anyone make their own body, hand, and/or facial lotions?

I don't, but i know of people who do. I've heard of whipping shea butter, but have never tried it. I know some people just use coconut oil on their dry parts, and aloe makes a great moisturizer for sensitive skin. I just use Dr. Bronner's lotion, sparingly--i let my natural oils do their thing.

I love coconut oil, and castor oil works really well too. Sometimes I'll mix up some olive, coconut, & castor oils, and add a touch of honey for its healing and antibacterial properties. Never made it into a lotion but it works great as an oil mix.

Did I read somewhere that vitamin E can be used as sort of an emulsifier?

I just use coconut oil, cocoa butter or shea butter. Sometimes I'll mix them in some combination but I mostly just use coconut oil alone. I have very dry skin and it works nicely, better than any lotions I tried.

Not a lotion, but I do make a body butter.

No standard recipe - I mix approximately equal amounts of cocoa butter, shea butter and almond oil with about a tbsp of castor oil, warm it on the stovetop whisk it, and let it cool down. I then add some eos (rose is my fav.), whisk again and put this into small glass jars. I don't refrigerate this. Even without preservatives, this stays fine for a long time. Works great for me.
