Charters: Has your cervix ever softened/opened but you didn't ovulate?

Have you ever known your cervix to very obviously soften, open, & shortly close up afterwards, but you don't think you actually ovulated?

I am still EBF my 5 mo old (plus tandeming his 2 yo bro) & have not had a PPAF. I'm not temping but I check my cervix every day or 2 in the shower. I charted after my last baby by checking my cervix & watching CM alone & it worked well for me. But I didn't start ovulating until more than 12mos PP.

So my question is: Should I assume my changed cervix meant I O'd, or could it have just been wacky PP hormones?

(I suppose I should add that I did also see EWCM the day before my cervix softened, but I see that several times PP with each baby but no other fertility signs or an AF proceeding it.)

I'm answering my own thread! :nana

After much Googling & surfing, I've come to the conclusion that my cervical changes most likely were due to ovulation. I read over & over that a woman's CM may change or be confusing while breastfeeding due to hormones, but obvious cervix changes are due to ovulation.

Which is not the news I had hoped to find.

So here I go, obsessing for the next 8 days or so before I can test. Bleh. Dumb.

I was wondering about this too...for me I had all the cervix/cm changes, but my temps were on the lower side...so not sure what that means.

Interesting that you've experienced cervical changes that didn't seem to be an obvious ovulation. But you did still end up with an AF? It's all so confusing! I read online that it's the same hormones that cause ovulation that also cause a cervix to soften & open. So one would think it safe to assume O happened with the cervical changes..... but a few others have told me that they too have experienced the cervical changes & EWCM but not seen an AF afterwards. Craziness! I just don't know what to think.

During the no PP times, my wife's cervix/mucus were all over the chart. Then they tamed out a bit. Cervix wouldn't change much (usually not open though) and she'd go a week plus of streachy but not ovulation. Daughter was 11m before her first cycle (when we started tracking again).

Good luck!
