Traveling 3 hours for a vbac

Hi ladies,

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and currently live in a small town in california which does not allow vbac at any of the local hospitals. I will be travelling 3 hours to LA to have my vbac. My in-laws live about 45 minutes away from the hospital so we will stay with them these next few weeks before delivery. My problem is after the delivery. Those of you that travelled far, did you leave the hospital and drive the entire distance home the same day? My other options are going back to the in-laws house but I really do not want to do this, they currently have 4 foster children in addition to my 2 younger brother in laws. I just dont feel like I can relax/nurse comfortably in a house with that many people. The other option is to get a hotel room and head out the next day or so. If you have have traveled far for a vbac, please let me know how your travel arrangements worked out. Thank you!

I traveled 2 hours for my VBAC and went all the way home afterwards. 3 hours isn't that far as long as you take as many breaks as you need. If you have an uncomplicated VBAC, you are in very good shape afterwards, so I think you will be fine and the baby will probably sleep. If baby wants to eat, just stop and nurse.

I would book a nice little inn or hotel, give your self a day or two to relax and then get in the car. You could always cancel it if you feel really amazing.
