A coworker's son, P, was visiting at work today, and I was talking to him because I noticed he was wearing a BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid). He also has a trach, is in the process of a jaw distraction, appears to have very low vision, has noticeable scoliosis, etc. He's 21.

I was trying to talk to him about his BAHA because Connor might be a candidate for one at some point (variable conductive hearing loss with ear canal atresia that makes a traditional aid hard to fit for him). P let me see the BAHA, but wouldn't talk much about it.

His dad came in and we started talking. P has Goldenar Syndrome, although his is the result of a prenatal bleed or stroke that effected his first and second brachial arch, it's not a genetic cause or environmental cause (some cases are associated with chemical exposures). His is bilateral, which is less common. He also has significant cognitive impairment, which isn't always the case.

His dad was showing me the BAHA and it turns out he has the same ENT as my son, small world!

Anyway...is anyone here familiar with Goldenhar?
