Weight loss to help with ttc?

Not sure if anyone has done or is doing anything while ttc?

I'm a little overweight, just left over from last pregnancy. We are ttc #3 and just had an early loss.

Has loosing weight helped you ttc? Was it recommended by anyone to lose the weight to help boost fertility?

I want to start something just not sure where the heck to start. Haha except for removing my pepsi from my diet. I'm pretty active with the kids already.

So did it help or not? Any good easy starting tips?

i'm losing weight while ttc# 2 I actually started packing on the pounds while ttc, so i'm about where i was this time last year right when we began ttc. With ds i was 166 pre-preg, and also 23, so a lot younger, i was eating just about anything. This time around, I had the misscarriage in early october, i was about 170 then. Right now I am 158, and still not pregnant. From what i've read, losing weight helps your fertility and decreases your risks during pregnancy. I still plan to keep losing the weight until i get pregnant or reach my goal weight, which is 140, so i still have a ways to go.

No one told me to lose the weight, except myself, because i knew i was getting too unhealthy and i wanted to improve my lifestyle. I did read in an online article that losing something like 8-11% of your body weight can drastically improve fertility in overweight woman. I am 5'8" so I was not extremely overweight, but just a bit. But the more fat on your body the more estrogen in your system, which could affect ovulation and progesterone which is needed to help conceive.

As far as what to do, definitely cut out or limit anything sugary and refined, and also make sure to eat plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

During my TTCing and pregnancies (which have lasted the last 11 years) I never found that weight directly affected either. My thin pregnancy had more issues than my heaviest pg etc. I conceived faster when I was heavier...I'm pretty heavy now and my cycles are a ton better than they were when I was thin. My diet has been the biggest factor.

So, I’m not an authority on this, but I can tell you that for me I have, what I call, a fertility weight.
When we were trying to conceive my son, I was also trying to losing weight. I weighed 142, lost 7 pounds on my way to my goal of 130 lbs. When I weighed 135 lbs, I got pregnant.
When we started to try and conceive our daughter I weighed 130 lbs, but didn’t get pregnant until I gained five pounds, making me weigh 135 lbs when I got pregnant again.
So, 135 is my magic number.

Just an anecdote, not advice.

Adipose tissue (aka fat) produces estrogen. Therefore the more you have, the more estogren around which can interfere with your normal hormonal cycling and therefore TTC.

When I lost a bunch of weight I started by counting calories and trying to up my activity. Basically try to make sure you burn more calories that you take in and you'll be on the way.
