How to sleep w/ 4yr old and newborn

Hello.
We are expecting a baby this summer. My husband, 4yr old son and I sleep in a kind size bed which should afford us plenty of room but my son, who is in the middle is a very active sleeper - all over the place. In fact, at this point I have to sleep w/ my back to him because I've gotten kicked in the stomach a few times.
My question is where to put the new baby. I'd love to have her in bed w/ us but feel like it's not safe w/ my son. Unfortunately the bed can not be pushed against a wall on either side. I have a bassinet but if she's anything like her brother, she too will hate it and I prefer to sleep right w/ her. I saw an advertisement for a roll that had extra fabric which you lay on but it seemed to me that the fabric could easily get bunched up and release the roll. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Are there any other things that can be used to ensure she doesn't fall off the side of the bed? Or is there another way to sleep than my husband on one side, then my son, my and baby on the other side?
Thank you!

We got a bed rail and went like this. Bed rail, toddler, Husband, newborn, me, and the wall.
It worked for us. Good luck.

Our bed can't be pushed up against the wall either. It's an old waterbed frame with a standard mattress in it so it's REALLY high off the ground too. A side-car crib wouldn't work cause it's so high.

Right now DS (2yo) is between us cause DH gets paranoid that he'll roll off the side of the bed. What we're considering is putting bedrails on both sides. Then it'll go Railing-Baby-Me-DH-DS-Railing.

I have it and love it... the fabric never bunches on me. It does take up some bed space though.
