What is this? (poo question!)

My 21 month old DD has been pooping as normal, no problems. But it looks like theres pepper in her poop, tons and tons and tons of small black flecks. It's been like this for 3 or 4 months and has come and gone this whole time. No change in behavior/sleep patterns/food eating. No new foods I can think would give her an allergy.

Anyone seen this before?

Does she have reflux?

Reflux no, and seeds from berries no bc she doesn't eat any berries with seeds. Thanks for replies

Is she potty trained (or are you noticing this in her diaper)? What does she eat?

bananas?

Does it look kind of like coffee grounds? Sometimes that's an indication of internal bleeding. watch it carefully, and if it doesn't go away after a day, I'd put in a call to the doc, just in case.

Not sure. I'd give the ped/ND a call and see if it sounds like something to be concerned about.

My DD gets that with lettuce and other high fiber veggies. She just doesn't digest them all the way, so they go through and out the other side just slightly smaller then what she chewed them into. Picture little piece of rotted lettuce and you will be there. I don't worry about it. We also get them from the skins of beans, bran flakes, and some fruit skins. Hooray for high fiber items.

I think I'd run that one by the ped/HCP just to be sure. It sounds like it could be undigested food. I've seen it with beans and other high fiber foods, but I would not have described is as pepper-like.

Buckwheat?

Well, <sigh> we have been finding little specs of crayon in the poo. Probably not your specs, but just an example of benign things that wind up in the kidos' diapers.

Kiwi? The black seeds pass right on through....

Thanks for all the replies! We skipped a day with bananas (part of our day!! bananas are a favorite) and no specks. And to clarify the poop is not coffee ground like in itself, it's normal poop full of what looks like pepper. Today was normal.
So I will assume it's bananas. Going to see with tomorrows poop and then repeat lol!

Thanks ladies.
