How many BM's should my 8 month old have?

He has tons of allergies so we have been eating allergy free for many months. Still he isn't very satisfied with my milk so I have been feeding him solids. Eating solids helps him to be content for a long time, not wanting to nurse every 20 minutes. He is finally putting on weight.

When exclusively breastfed, he had a BM once every 2 days and now that I have added in some solids, not a ton, he BM's 6 times a day. This cannot be right. But solids really seem to make him a happier baby.

Wow, I don't have any advice because I have the exact opposite issue. My kid used to go every day or two but lately he's not going much at all. Like a little turd once a week.

On the other hand I remember when we first started solids he was going once a day for about two or three weeks. Everything was just going right through him. No longer.

I look forward to seeing what other folks say.

we had the same thing and I thought it was due to teething, but I started keeping a food journal again and being more careful about soy (previously I wasn't avoiding lecithin or oil because I don't have issues with them but apparently ds does) along with dairy and peanuts... DS doesn't eat much solid food though (he's 7 mo). I don't have any advice but for us I think it was a food issue. I know you already have a very limited diet, are you keeping a food journal?

My DD is 7.5mo and she goes 1-2 times a day. When she was exclusively breastfed she only went once every 4-7 days, so it's definitely gone up a lot with solids. If his poop is normal looking it's probably fine, but perhaps you could ask your ped?

My LO is almost 9 months. She eats some solids but not a ton. She goes once daily.

With DD she always pooped daily, once she had none for 4 days. DS went all the time as a newborn, then he hit like 3 months and started going every 4 days, he's gone a week before. He eats solids and it really has made no difference, he goes every 4 days, and he makes up for the fact that he doesn't go daily. It's a lot and always a HUGE mess.

I started giving babe probiotics and his red cheeks have cleared and his BM's have lessened. I started right after I wrote about this and it hasn't taken long to make a difference -if that it what is helping.
