would you keep temping after a bfp?

Wishful thinking is getting the better of me as I now have 15 days of temps above the coverline (BFN at 13dpo). If I get to 18dpo and test again and get a bfp... my thought regarding temping is that I will probably keep right on doing it. (It is too much fun to stop. )

But is it advisable? Would I stress over every temp fluctuation? Would they in fact mean anything? Last pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage and I wonder if temping would alert me of a problem this time around. Of course I want to think positive. I also want to know if there is any benefit to temping throughout the pregnancy or at least throughout the first trimester.

personally I think the stress would kill me every time my temp dropped a tenth of a degree.

i wouldn't. if i am fortunate enough to ever get a bfp, i'm gonna just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Don't do it! Temps fluctuate in pregnancy just like they do all the time. The difference is, every fluctuation will send you into a fit. Just my humble opinion I hope you get your bfp soon!!!

Only you could say whether or not you'd stress over every temp fluctuation. As for me, I did continue temping for a few weeks because my early preg symptoms were almost identical to my about-to-get-my-period symptoms. When I took my temp each morning and saw that it had not dropped substantially, I felt safe for that day that I wasn't about to start my period. I found it helpful until the bloat phase went away, but then I don't tend to stress about much.

I finally stopped when the queasiness kicked in around 6 weeks and used that as my new sign that things were okay instead of temps.

I'm not sure but then i'm pretty new to temping and don't really know what it all really means apart from the higher temp after o.

The moment you get your bfp, stop temping. It wont tell you if you are losing your pregnancy or not but it WILL give you a boatload of stress.

My trusty purple therm has been stashed in my nightstand for the past few mornings. I knew I'd get obsessive over every hundredth of a degree, so I stopped.

Well, I hear you that it adds one more source of stress, but it seems temping throughout the first trimester does provide useful info.

"Waking basal body temperatures (BBT) are very useful if you continue to take them during the first trimester. Most miscarriages occur during this time and waking temperatures typically start dropping below the coverline as a warning of an impending miscarriage."

Might this not be better than finding out at the ultrasound?

no

because your bbts can drop for OTHER reasons and not be a sign of miscarriage

or, if you have a missed miscarriage (where baby stops developing but your body doesn't realize it for a few weeks), your temps are going to stay up. It really DOESN'T tell you anything and just adds stress.

I don't know, I am torn on this subject. On the one hand it is stressful (I am newly pregnant) to see the temp fluctuate. On the other hand I would like to be alerted to a miscarriage if there is anything I can do to prevent it. It is a tough decision.

Don't do it! I temped for about 3 weeks after I got my BFP with dd. Some mornings I would wake up and my temp was way low. All day I would be upset and go to the bathroom a hundred times waiting for the bleeding to start. Then the next day my temp would be up and I'd be happy again.

It's hard enough being newly pregnant. There's nothing you can do to prevent a miscarriage (unless you have low progesterone or something similar), and there's no way you can predict it's coming, not even by temping.
