Why I'm happy to use cloth on my sweet March babe...(pics)

Every time I do a load of diapers, I'm blown away by how many times this silly little girl poops and wets her diapers! Holy heck! She's a poopin and peein machine

And with every load of diapers I haul upstairs after washing/drying (it's not sunny enough for line drying yet! boo!), I'm thankful that we use cloth diapers.

This is a picture of how many diapers I washed... and this is just about 1.5 days' worth.

Close-up of the prefolds (the dyed ones were done by me.. some solids, some low-water immersion dying) .. oh.. and the top one is a velour prefold. I used to make and sell these, but somehow never used them myself? Except I had one lone one that I never sold... and of course now it's my favorite.. so I need to make more!!! lol

close-up of the fitteds... all but one were made by me!

So.. wow! All these diapers.. in not even two full days!! Gosh I'm glad we use cloth! Fresh, clean diapers are just a wash away!!

ITA! We did some sposies the last week for the yeast rash that followed the thrush so I could clear the rash and disinfect the diapers. I'm excited to get back to the fluffy bum.

I know - we've been washing daily (and throwing other messed things in with the dipes - like burp cloths, etc) b/c I only have 12 of the kissaluvs fitteds w/the snap down for the umbilical cord and a few pocket diapers that cut low enough, and Avery's umbilical cord is still sort of bloody-ish/healing (which the ped said is fine/normal) but i'd rather not cover it up yet, kwim? Once i can break into the rest of the diapers we won't need to wash so often, but the diaper loads will be HUGE...

I always shrugged off that argument. We did EC as much as possible and then sposies when we were out and about. I had NO idea how many sposies are actually used when ft diapering!

DD has started to get all toddlerish and we quadrupled our diaper usage. I went from maybe a diaper a day to 6-7 diapers a day!!! WOW

So now I am trying to get into gdiapers b/c DH is not onboard with CDing. He hates it.

Gah! that's terrible! and 6-7/day isn't that many compared to what a newborn uses!

My sister works with a girl who is pregnant, and very naive/ doesn't know a whole lot about pregnancy/ babies, and she was trying to tell my sister that babies "only need, like, 3 diapers a day". Ahem.

I've been floored by how many dipes were going through, and with two in cloth and part-time EC, it's still a ton. I'm about to make some one-size dipes since the babe aready fits in them and it looks like dd2 will still be in dipes a bit longer.

I love all your dipes Judybean. They're so colorful!
I was talking to DH about how much money and waste we would have already gone through in just a little over 2 weeks. I'm so glad were cloth diapering. And like you said, clean dipes are just a wash away!

I tried out some cloth on DD the other day, and even the XS diapers were too big. Covers were huge on her. She is just so tiny, they were falling off almost. SO, we are sticking with the sposies for now. Maybe next week she will have grown enough to fit the cloth.

Judy, your dipes are really cute!
