stevia during pregnancy?

Does anyone know is stevia is ok to use as a sweetener? I don't drink enough liquids and the only thing I've found that's palatable enough for me to drink enough of is lemonade that I make with water, lemon juice, and stevia. I'm not really willing to use real sugar. When I google, all the "official" sounding stuff just says "not FDA approved, blah blah," but to be honest the FDA's approval doesn't mean a whole lot to me. Does anyone have any better info one way or another?

I'm wondering the same thing because I drink Blue sky natural soda sweetened with stevia.....

I'm of no help either, but I would also like to know since I just found some lemonade made with it. Water and liquids have been troublesome for me too.

My midwife said it was a-ok.

My midwife also ok'd stevia-but she said to stick with the natural unprocessed kind (just the ground leaves-nothing like that new Truvia or the like.)

I don't know anything about Stevia, but wanted to offer up a drink suggestion that's been working for me. I used to drink a lot of juice (mostly unsweetend cranberry juice) and not a lot of water, so my midwife suggested I dilute down the juice with water. I started with about 1/2 and 1/2, but now I only put about an inch of cranberry juice/pure apple juice in a tall glass and fill the rest up with filtered water. I actually prefer it this way now!

I can't handle regular water right now, either. I use flavored stevia drops in my water (I like 10 drops per liter of water.) My midwife (before I had to switch to perinatologist) and my doctor have both said it's fine. I like the valencia orange flavor, or using half peppermint drops half orange drops. They also make a lemon flavor, and a bunch of others.

Thanks for the replies ladies! I think I'll keep drinking my stevia lemonade and stop worrying about it.

I hope it is ok, I am not sure I could make it without my stevia lemonade too!
