Using an opk as an ept......

Got all excited this morning because I found and opk and decided what the heck, to use it to see what it said. My AF is due on Monday, and it usually comes right on time so its not like I thought I was ovulating. Already did that, I thought. I had seen the line go away to a barely there line after I O'ed, if you know what I mean.

So, I took this opk for the hell of it, with my first morning urine. And low and behold, it was obviously positive!! So I was like "hmmmm." And I went and got a dollar tree test preg test this afternoon.... and it's negative.

Why?? :-( Could it be that my urine was more diluted hours later after me drinking a bunch of water during a walk?

Should I never have tried to use an opk as an ept? Probably. But it got me excited.

Any guesses? Im pretty sure I am not ovulatiing on day 28 of my cycle, my cycles are never longer than 31 days.

Oh, by the way, I am on cd 28 right now. i will test again in the morning with a dollar tree preg test and see what FMU comes up with........hope I can wait that long!! LOL

I know a + opk versus a - opk ( early-pregnancy-tests.com type of opk strip) very well by this point, and even dh agrees that the test line in that case was definitely darker than the control line. He noticed it before I said it. So...I dont see why the first dollar tree hpt was - unless b/c it was diluted urine from my water.

Anyways. Only time will tell and maybe it was a fluke. Thanks for reading, if it made any sense. It helps to obsess out loud. lol

How frustrating! I know opk's can detect hcg, but it's hard to know for sure if that's what's going on here, or if you're having a very weird late O. Do you temp? It could be that your pee was diluted for the $tree test. I hope the morning brings you a bfp! I know waiting is SO hard

any update?

OPKs are much less sensitive than HPTs for HCG. So if you get a pos OPK and you're actually pg you should get a blaring HPT. If you didn't get a BFP on the $tree I'd think it's more likely that you're having a weird late o than that you're pg. Here's a site that explains it well.

Fingers crossed you get your BFP soon!

well, $ tree said BFN this morning and I still havent started AF.

CD 29 over here, she should be arriving soon I thought. Guess my body can still find ways to surprise me, after 15 months TTC. LOL

The thought that we might be pregnant got my DH excited though. He took his fertiliaid like a good TTC Dh today. :-) He is going to get the SA done this week, finally!!

So......just waiting on the ol' AF to show up. If my AF doesnt come in the next few days, something strange is definitely up, as that would be highly unusual...I'm thinking I got a weird hormonal surge or a bunk opk test.

*sigh*

Thanks guys.
