Is this a side effect of Implanon?

I have no idea where to put this, but since it might have to do with my birth control, I'll put it here.

Last night I went to the ER with severe abdominal pain. They diagnosed me with Menstrual cramps, an enlarged uterus, and what I was feeling were uterine spasms (extremely painful ones, a 9 on the pain scale). I have implanon. Does anyone know if this is in fact a side effect of Implanon? I got it inserted in mid February, at my 6 week pp check up. I've had irregular bleeding and mild cramps since getting it inserted, but nothing like the severe pain I had last night. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm sorry, I have no idea, but and I hope you're doing better! Good luck!

All the tests they ran on me came back normal. I'm really at a loss as to what happened. It felt like I was giving birth again. I hope it never happens again. Meh.

That is weird, did you call your obygn, they may be able to tell you. I have never heard of that birth control, but wanted to let ya know I hope you are feeling better and hopefully it doen't happen again.

Ever since I had my first child I have had a enlarged uterus.

Did they do a ultrasound to check for cysts? That can cause on/off pain and it can get severe when they rupture. Just a thought.

Good thing is that I have not had the same thing happen since.

I am actually surprised that they did not do an ultrasound to see what the problem really was. They didn't look inside at all, they just felt around and said my uterus was enlarged.

I made an apt with my midwife (she does more than deliver babies) but I couldn't get in until early May, so I have to wait.
