How did you find MDC? Wayyyy back when I was pregnant with #1 I got the print magazine.
Are you interested in meeting other MDC moms? Yes! Ithaca can be lonely in winter when everyone is a hermit.

Ooooh, I highly recommend the ice cream.  It is homemade and soooooooooo good.

It's been 13+ yrs since I joined MDC (don't ask, don't tell?!) and I can't honestly remember how I found it!

I know a few, would be happy to meet others!

I don't play favorites - I like to shop, eat, and goof around.  :D

Charlie's Angel - a school district has the right to refuse a child entrance to their schools w/out vaxes IF they feel your letter of exemption is not valid/true.  They do potentially open themselves up to a lawsuit, so most don't give much hassle.  I can email you our letter if you'd like.  It's worked for 8 yrs running for us, though currently both kids are in private.  It will work for our public schools too, though.

Hysterical!  We live not far from there, but have only been once.  I didn't love the place, kind of beat up, but my dh loved their ice cream!  lol!  I'm dairy free anyway, so maybe that had some influence?!

Does anyone have a pediatrician or famiy doc they would recommend in the Syracuse (preferably north)/Auburn/Cato area? We need someone who is respectful towards parental rights to choose what they want for their kids (ex: vaccines). I have been through 2 already and just tried a new one yesterday where I was told parents are required to follow normal schedule for vaccines otherwise you are being unsafe and dangerous. They right-out refused to take my daughter as a patient, which I was not informed of when I inquired on the phone nor would I want to go there after hearing their response to me. I am just so frustrated of being on this search for a good dr and feeling knocked down as being a "bad parent" for selectively and delaying vaccines. Can someone please help me?

browneye, We go to a large practice called CNY Family Care. We've seen Karen Beckman and Robert Steves and while they didn't support not vaccinating, they didn't give me a hard time about it either.

Just wanted to post an update in case anyone else is looking for a dr in my area. Dr. Eppilito in Cato does not harass for not vaccinating AND supports home birth! Now, I did get the usual encouragement to research and consider doing more vaccines, but in no way was harassed for my choice to not. He sees a lot of Mennonite families which I think has an influence on that.

What's your favorite holistic place in your area? Our area sadly does not have a lot to offer, which surprised me since we are 15 minutes from Bethel (Woodstock!). I guess I was under the impression that some of that '69 mentality was still around in these parts, but I was wrong. However there is a local farm market (Liberty Farm Market) that is also an "Oriental" grocer...they have tons of fresh, local organic produce and holistic goods.

How did you find MDC?  My cousin told me about it when I was pregnant and my midwives gave all their clients copies of Mothering Magazine, so I read about it, too.

I can't remember, it's been too many years.

You'd think that this close to Woodstock, it would be easy.... but I'm at a loss for ANYTHING that qualifies.   Pretty grim.
