Are you guys familiar with Kingston Natural Foods Market?  It's very new, down by the Rondout. They're a buying club, so you can get close to coop prices, but they also have storefront with some basics if you run out midmonth.  They're one of, if not THE, biggest buying clubs on the East coast, so they get good discounts.  The discount is smaller than HWFC's weekly member rates, but that's not matched ANYWHERE else that I've heard of.  They place two orders a month, too, so you don't ever need to wait long to order.

Just wanted to share that we're planning a Big Latch On location for this area!  Right now it's tentatively being held at Eastside Rec in Saratoga Springs.  It'll be in conjunction with a natural-minded fair with vendors and informational booths.  The date is August 6th, 2011.  The Latch is at 10:30AM.  For those who don't know what it is, we're trying to set a world record for the most women simultaneously breastfeeding (must be latched on for 1 minute at 10:30AM).  It goes by time zone.  So if you're interested in being part of this event or even just to support it, definitely come out!

There's a Saratoga chapter of Holistic Moms Network that meets at the Saratoga Springs Public Library on the first Thursday of every month at 6PM.  There's also a Crunchy Mamas meetup group for your general area and there's also a Cloth Diaper circle by Vicki of Sonrise Diaper Service that (I think) is held in Clifton Park.  There's a meetup group for that as well.  Oh, and there is also Capitol Region SlingBabies too that meets at different places every month.

Hi All!

I'm not really new to MDC, just had to change my user name after thousands of posts b/c I'm in the process of getting a divorce which has cost me a LOT of friends :(

I've lived in the Albany area for a few years but would like to know what crunchy groups there are that are geared toward moms with older children. My child is school age. I LOVE LOVE babies, but no longer fit in on non-stop conversations about cloth diapers and breastfeeding and needing to be home for afternoon naps. Don't get me wrong, I've done LLL training and am all for that stuff. I'm just looking for some friends at a different stage of life who are available to go hiking with us or whose kids are old enough to enjoy sipping juice while their moms chat over a mocha, or going to an occasional movie ETC.

Anyone know if there is still a homeschool hiking group?
