I am in the middle of the biggest de-cluttering project I've ever undertaken!
Since we moved our bedrooms from upstairs to main floor I have been living with coats in my bedroom closet and my clothes in the storage closet upstairs in laundry baskets in the basement and in piles on my bed...well, tonight I decided to tackle it!
I took all the things out of the storage closets, because really...they had just gotten a ton of stuff packed into them to get it "out of the way" and it had grown into a beast! I cleared it all out, went through and ruthlessly sorted, pitched and piled into: trash, Goodwill and keeper piles and bagged everything up or brought it to its proper final resting place. It feels so good to be doing this!
I now have clothes in the closet in my bedroom and storage items in the storage closets
My Goodwill/donate bags are counting in the double digits. I am keeping nothing that doesn't fit, haven't worn in a month (so virtually all those clothes in the closet!) and finally had the courage to put beautiful housewares into the bags. I had to be honest with myself that DH and I are no longer "MODERN HOUSE" people like we were pre-kids.
I just think of the person that is going to shopping for their new house and find some amazingly cool and beautiful items! That makes my heart happy, because really...it's not doing anything sitting in my storage closet!
