3 straight days of BD leading to "O"..Boy/Girl??(Shettles anyone?)

We did the BD three days in a row..13th, 14th and 15th(Of February)..on the 15th ,I had my surge( OPK +VE), and we did the BD on 15th night...I was reading up shettles..and it says that if you want a boy..you have to abstain from BD until the day off., but we as you can see TTC both on 13th and 14th...what are the odds of us having a boy??..i know there is always a 50/50 ..but has anyone not abstained from BD before ovulation and still ended up with a boy??..I will be happy with either( in fact girl's clothings are much more fun!!)..but DH lost his father recently and I know he would love to name this child after his dad...

BTW, I got my first barely +ve BFP on 27th of feb.

15th was a full moon..so I was reading up somewhere that a full moon sways the odds towards a boy..who know all these things..but it sure fun guessing

Just looking over my charts from the pregnancy with my son and we BD'd the 3rd and 2nd day before O. Didn't bother the day of...

I have ended up with a boy in those circumstances (though I TTC, but I keep dates, JIC).

We're expecting our 2nd boy and we did not abstain. In fact the way we TTC'd should be optimal for a girl. We didn't try to do Shettles, but it just happened that way.

That described our situation with ds3. With this one (a little girl) we had sex the three nights before and also the night of ovulation.

I think when you have this pattern, honestly, it makes it much more of a 50/50 chance...since you're not doing the Shettles method of either thinning out the male sperm (abstaining just before O) OR giving the male sperm a head start (having sex just at O).

Best of luck to you!

I think you are 50/50 with that timing but I think any timing is 50/50. I saw some research that disproved the Shettles theory on sperm speed. the only research that does say it was done by Shettles himself. It doens't hold up thoguh. There are ways to sway based on ph and such but I have no idea if it works or not. My timing this time is girl timing according to shettles but I am not putting any stock in that. My dd was concieved with bd every day leading up to O. I put as much stock in shettles as the heart rate theory.

I've got 2 boys (almost!) from similar timing. We weren't trying to sway gender or anything.

we BD several days in a row leading up to O and the day of O with both of my kids.. 1 girl, 1 boy .. we find out tomorrow whats cooking this time and we followed the 'girl' rule this time (not on purpose) ..

that timing got us a girl....

We BD'd for 5 days leading up to O plus the day of and we are having a boy! We had been waiting to TTC and were really wanting to conceive right away, so we tried really hard and had fun doing so.

I thought the theory though was that if you want a girl you should BD up until a couple of days before and then abstain, and for a boy you should BD in the couple of days leading up?
