First off Happy Easter to those that celebrate!

Anyone used brainetics for the kids? I get complaints that my dd is slow in math, uses fingers, and does bad on times tests. If this program was useful I would get it for my dd.My younger son does math quickly in his mind, lol sometimes better than me.

i just looked at the brainetics website and it looks like a hard-sell infomercial. (ugh!) it also shows kids quickly memorizing random letters assigned to them. i dont see anybody ~understanding~, or ~thinking~ about anything. it seems really gimicky to me. and expensive.

if you're looking for resources to build a stronger brain midline connection for your kids, there are lots of OT exercises that would do the same type of thing. (this is one of the things that brainetics seems to be selling)

some kids get a lot of anxiety when they're being timed that interferes with their ability to finish a task. it might be more fun and more productive to play some math games with your dd. it's amazing how fast kids can do math when they're trying to win at a game~~it's for fun, not because they 'have to do it within a certain time frame'. i've also been told that it's absolutely okay for kids to count on their fingers when they're not sure of the answers. it shows that your dd is really considering the answers and thinking about what she's doing. she has an understanding of the process of finding the answers.
