I have two beds that are against the fence on the west side of my yard...they get direct sun till right past noon. It stays wetter on this side as the two-story next door shades this side of the yard in the afternoon. Then I have a few beds against the east fence and this side gets direct sun from around noon till the sun is low in the sky at the end of the day. This side is drier and harder to keep moist. We're in the high-70's to 80's now and expecting to be into the triple digits by the end of May.
I have potatoes to plant, as well as swiss chard, melons, cukes, squash and romaine but I can't decide what to put on each side of the yard. Any ideas of what might be the best side for those things? I already have most of the space planted on the west side but still have a bit of room and will have more soon....and the east side is only about 50% planted. Thanks!
