Emotional problems in DS1

Ok, we have had emotional problems with DS1 for a while. Most of the issues stem from his sleep apnea. Ever since WE realized he had sleep apnea, we have done a lot of non-medicalized methods of controlling his behavior until we can get the tonsils and adnoids out.

He has had excellent behavior for the last year or so, he goes to counseling to help him learn to better deal and cope with acting out.

We just have experienced our first major issue in over a year and a half. It all started out when we were going to go meet our Ped regarding DS2. We had made arrangements to leave them with a friend a few minutes away from the Ped's office.

He became volatile - kicking, hitting, screaming, and refused to go into our friends house. In the end, we just took him with us. But, ever since that day, his reactions to everything have been excessive and even tending towards violent (getting into physical altercations with his brother - DS2 - because he took one of his Easter Eggs).

He refuses to say anything more than he doesn't like the fact our friend makes him take naps, etc. He has not stayed with this friend in almost 2 years. He wont get into more than that with his Counselor either. But it has got to stop.

I have been literally in tears today because his attitude is ruining our family time together - fighting and getting upset over what is in his Easter Basket, refusing to participate in the egg hunt, throwing brother to ground to get back to the back yard where the eggs are.

I know he is having sleep issues again, he has been getting up almost an hour earlier than normal and fighting his sleep for an hour longer than normal...I just have to make it through until the beginning of summer for the surgery. I have noticed he has a runny nose and his ears are just dripping with dark brown ear wax...
