Maternal instinct about sex of baby - Page 3

I was totally convinced, from the second of the BFP, that Em was a girl, and I was right.

This one, I keep going back and forth, and I think that means it's a girl. Because I think I kind of want a boy, so I'm trying to convince myself it's a boy, but all of my instinct keeps going "no way darlin, you've got another girl in there." I'll let you know in about a month, we'll be doing an u/s.

Tech: "Ok. Well....[focuses screen on the between the legs money shot] it's NOT a boy."

Me: [stunned silence....still stuck on the word "boy"] "Huh? Are you sure??"

Then my mom comes to peek at the screen and she and the tech are both like, "oh yeah, this is a girl." The tech said she frequently doesn't see it as clearly as in my ultrasound, especially not at 18 weeks. I started crying and they thought it was just happy tears, but really it was also the shock and surprise and confusion of hearing it was a girl that hit me all at once. I had been SO CONVINCED it was a boy.
My story is almost exactly the same- i said "we'd definitely like to know the sex" and the ultrasound tech was like "oh, it's a boy, no question" and my response was "SERIOUSLY??" I felt like my intuition had totally let me down - I'm still feeling scarred and having a hard time trusting my intuition...

I knew DS was a boy right from the beginning, no doubt (intelligender said girl, fwiw).

This time I was sure girl, then had no idea for about 10 weeks, now feel girl again. We'll see in July!

Oh Ladies, I love hearing your stories about this!

Well I was 100% certain that I was having a girl. We chose not to find out the sex until the birth, so I was hugely shocked when they pulled my kid out of my belly (screaming and peeing) and yelled "Its a Boy!". This is probably the most vivid, and sweet, memory of my birth experience for me.

I should have known though, because I had a dream I was holding him when I was about 38 weeks. I figured it was wishful thinking though.

I'm learning from this thread though...Trust the Dreams!!

I tracked my dreams with both of my other pregnancies-- with my first, I dreamed that the baby was a girl much more often (and she was). With my second, I dreamed of girl babies, but had a boy. So far this time I haven't had any dreams that I remember.

I'm on my first pregnancy, and have felt it was a girl since before I conceived. Then I had a dream it was a boy and for a while I wasn't sure, but then that feeling of GIRL came back. Ultrasound at 20 wks confirmed it's a girl, which is also incidently just what I wanted! I want to have boys, too, but for personal reasons I've always hoped my first would be a girl.

[QUOTE=Amanda_Reyasmom;15262404]I was 100% convinced during my first pregnancy that I was having a girl, by 12 weeks she had a name and I had drempt of her many times. Sure enough, she looks exactly like the little girl I drempt about. QUOTE]

This was me!

With DS I had a dream, very vivid, early on that it was a boy and his name was E. We have a son, and his name is E.

This pregnancy I also had a dream that I was having a daughter and her name was A. It IS a girl we're going with A for her name.

I believe in those dreams. It was as if my children come to me an introduce themselves.

With my first, I had recurring dreams that I gave birh to a litter of kittens.

Luckily, she was human.

With my third baby, I felt pretty strongly that the baby was a boy, and surprise, she was a girl. It felt weird to have been so wrong all along.

Well we guessed right with all of ours, beyond dreaming of boy/girl..we had a hard time with names of the opposite sex of what I was carrying. Also with girls I get much more emotional (hormonaly) and with boys I get much more aggresive

DS1 I thought (and DH did too) that is was a girl during the entire pg (we never found out)
DS2 I KNEW had to be a boy -- just had a strong feeling -- we never even picked a girl name
DD I had a feeling was a girl but felt like that was what we were hoping for so didn't trust my instincts until I had 2-3 dreams the weeks before the u/s ... and heard over and over "It's a girl" -- then I felt more confident
This one ... not sure ... thought it was a boy but had dreams about a girl and DS2 thinks it is a girl and even calls her by "name" that he has picked out...so we'll see...

i had giving-birth-to-kittens dreams when i was pg with my dd, too!!! how funny!!

i was right about dd being a girl. i didn't have a super strong feeling either way, but i was leaning towards girl and we had a pretty early ultrasound (either at 14 weeks or 16 weeks, i forget) and the tech was pretty positive at that point. which was good, because we had had our girl name picked out, no question, from the very beginning, and we couldn't for the life of us agree on a boy name. luckily we didn't have to!!

this time, i am not sure. but it's still really early (i'm 6 weeks 5 days today)

DS I just knew was a boy early on, and I had a dream late in pregnancy with a boy baby in it. I bought boy clothes, but left the tags on just in case (I didn't have any ultrasounds.) I was even secretly hoping I was wrong and would have a girl.

DD, I was sure she was a girl as soon as I knew I was pregnant. I had some doubts in the middle of my pregnancy (I think I was afraid to get my hopes up too much, as I really, really wanted a little girl.) Again, I had a pregnancy dream late in pregnancy with a little girl baby in it. I did have a late ultrasound for suspected breech presentation, but they couldn't see what she was. So with both I didn't find out until birth (I prefer it that way.)
