nightweaning bump in the road...

I'm wondering what others think our next step should be re nightweaning our 15mth DS.

We've been slowly nightweaning DS using the Jay Gordon method with a few modifications to suit our DS. Combined with the support of an awesome classical homeopath and our realisation that DS has a tonne of food intolerances, we have really come a very long way considering that DS's wakings were every 30 mins-1.5hrs, all night long.

A couple of nights ago, DS slept 9 hours straight which was extraordinary. You can imagine how excited we were considering that's about 3 times longer than his previous record. Before that, he was coping really well with a tiny bit of patting and cuddling and going back to sleep easily without the boob - the wakings were about 3 hourly. In the last few nights however, he is waking around 3am and screaming blue murder until I give in and nurse him - I think I'd be happy to keep this feed for another few months and try dropping it again later except that even after nursing, he's not falling back to sleep and I'm still having to pat and cuddle and sing for up to 2.5hrs.

What to do? I'll talk to our homeopath tomorrow about some medicine that may support his new rhythm but in terms of to feed, not to feed, I'm really unsure about our next move.

I'm a bit scared that giving into this will put us back at the beginning again and I really don't want to go back there!

Help?

*bump*

...after another night of nursing and singing and patting and lying wide awake and screaming from 3am-5.30am. Then the kid wakes up happy as a lark and ready for the day at 7...how can that be??

I know this is always the usual response....but is it teething? I'm hoping that's what has caused a bump in the road for us. If it's just the one feed, I'd be tempted to keep it for now (although I realize it's not helping get him back to sleep).

Sorry, I don't have a whole lot of advice....

What time does he go to bed (I'm assuming this is the last nursing session before the 3am one)?

He goes to bed early...around 6ish but I happily feed him up until midnight and if he doesn't wake up before then, always feed him again, once, whenever he wakes.

He is teething but has been the whole time (he's a constant teether) and I've got him pretty dosed up on paracetamol. But maybe that's it. Maybe 3am is his threshold.
