"sandy" poop when oxalates don't seem to be the issue?

DS gets sandy, gritty poop every few weeks. It lasts a few days and then his stool returns to normal. He does not react to Epsom salt baths. The sandy poop seems to come out of nowhere, when he's eating the same foods he always does. He has multiple food intolerances and is on a limited diet, so he really is eating the same foods all the time. It does seem like he reaches a certain threshold and then has a reaction. Could he have a problem with oxalates even though he does fine with Epsom salt baths? He does regularly eat quite a few foods high in oxalates. Could this be something else? Thoughts?

Thanks!

DS gets this too - I think it is a small "oxalates" dump. He doesn't appear to have big oxalates issues, and doesn't react to Epsom salts baths, so I don't worry about it overly much. Make sure he's getting enough mag and vit K2 so he doesn't grow a bigger issue long term, but I don't worry about occasional sandy poops.

OK, thanks. We're doing Epsom salt baths about 4 -5 days a week and 1/4 tsp FCLO daily, so hopefully this will be sufficient to keep the symptoms mild.

My DS gets theses too. What causes them? What are oxalate dumps?

Thank you for starting this thread! DS has sandy poops occasionally along with other digestive issues, so I have been wondering what this was all about!
