I am exclusively breastfeeding since 4.5 months. How long did/do you do exclusively breastfeeding?

I let my breastfed baby start solids at 4 months, which I know is early.

DS was almost 9 months when he started eating solids.

Though I offered solids at around 6 months, DD didn't actually eat them until around 11-12 months.

I think I went to 8 months with dd, ds is about 6.5 months now, and he gets really pushy when I let him have water from a spoon. He also gets aggravated sometimes when we eat. I am thinking about starting him soon, but I will wait longer if I can keep him happy.

DS started solids between 11 and 12 months.

DS1 started solids ~7.5 months, and from then on was very consistant eating/playing wtih food at least once a day. DS2 I've offered random stuff a bit earlier (probably since ~6.5 months or so), but its still not consistant every-day, and he's nearly 8 months now.

Around 8.5 months for DS, DD1 was interested in solids right at 6 months, and 7-8 months for DD2.

This is what happened for us, too.

Incidentally, we're still nursing and he's 26mo now (and I'm 32 weeks pregnant with #2!).

I'm not a fan of the age brackets you have listed. We started playing with foods about 5m (I think) he was interested and we mostly just smashed it all around and in hair and such. He hasn't really started wanting to EAT until recently at about 10+m.

Now, I have breastfed all this time mind you, and still do. And pumping with the devil pump. I won't let a spoonful of strained carrots take that accomplishment away!

OP, do you mean solid food or artificial milk? do you mean to say that your LO is 4.5 mo and you have given no other type of milk?

bc my ds1 was given a taste of cereal at 4 mos (and then not again for several mos) and my ds2 started solids at about 6 mos but as i never ever gave artificial milk, if you had asked me at any point in time i would have said they were exclusively bf. of course i know that any caloric intake other than bm is the start of weaning, its just that with me and my IRL friends, we say "exclusively bf" to mean that we never used formula.

Paul had only nursing until 11 months old. He had his first little bite then, it was a cheerio I had dropped, and he took 4 bites out of that cheerio! I hope to make it to 9 months with Dolores, as that was our goal for Paul. We'll see if Paul doesn't give her food before then! He's already tried giving her some and she's just barely 5 months old!

I started offering DD1 solids here and there around 7-8 months, but she didn't actually eat them till closer to 10 months. She didn't eat daily solids until close to a year. We did BLW and never spoon fed her.

DD2 is 7.5 months and we haven't offered her any solids yet. Once she masters the pincer grasp, we'll offer. We plan to do BLW again.

DD#1 was exclusively bf til 10 months, dd#2 till about 7 months i think when she started trying to grab food off my plate.

I voted 6-9 months. With my daughter, we started giving her a bit of baby cereal and veggies at 6 months. My son wasn't interested in food at 6 months; he started getting 'tastes' of things around 7.5-8 months. At almost 9 months, he's eating some solids, but still nursing every 1.5-2 hours during the day, so he's still getting about 90% of his nutrition from milk.

I think that exclusively breastfed means nothing but breastmilk-- no water, formula or solids.

I voted 6-9 months because we began offering solids at 6 months; she really had no interest in them though until she was over a year. Because of stupid, interventionist OB nurses I did end up offering formula via an SNS in the hospital when she was 12 hours old... she rejected the SNS breast in favor of the "human milk only" breast though so I don't count it (That was her only exposure to formula.)

DS was 5months when we began playing with breastmilk mixed with banana. He didnt really 'eat' until nearer to 6.5months.

Six months (well, he got EBM in a bottle while I was at work because I'm the WOHP and DH is/was the SAHP, and DH can't lactate )... and we held him back from solids until then; he was ready and raring to go. He ate small amounts from the get-go.

I said 9+ months. For DS we started offering foods at 6 months but his gag reflux kept pretty much everything out until about 9 months. For DD (who is currently 9.5 months), she recently had a jar of baby food when I needed to be gone for a few hours but beyond that, she's gotten just specks of food here and there she's managed to swallow when we've given her food to play with. She's only had two teeth for awhile now making it hard for her to chew well but in the last week she's cut three more teeth and is about to get her sixth so we are planning to just feed her our food (rather than baby food) starting in the next few days. The vast majority of her calories though will still be BM.
