Does flax + vegan dha supp = nutrition of fish oil?

Just wondering if fish oil is "necessary" or if I can eat ground flax plus take a vegan dha supplement.

I want to avoid gelatin (ds might be sensitive), and really don't want to drink liquid fish oil. blech.

I already eat ground flax. I get enough vit A and D in my prenatal vites and foods.

So should I buy fish oil or vegan dha supp?

Did you think about CLO instead of fish oil? it comes in flavors too-YUMMY!

you may find more info in the TF section, there were recent posts of CLO/fish oil and you may find info to add to your diet besides using vitamins, more natural non-synthetic

The absolute best-tasting cod liver oil that I have tried is Carlson. Not fishy at all and no synthetic vitamins in it.

The DHA you will get from a vegan supplement is 100% equivalent to that of fish oil. It's also just as 'natural' (it's a pill of algae vs a pill of fish)

I don't know about 'nutritionally' equivalent because of course, there are other variables in fish vs algae. But as far as the health benefits of fish oil, that's in the DHA and you can get that from algae.

I find it amazing anyone could call any time of CLO "yummy", but to each her own. I take CLO pills. this way I take them every day and am not turned off by the smell/taste. Flax oil is higher in Omega-6, so not ideal. I take it for blepharitis and we give it to DS to help him poop, but we still do CLO as well.
