This is the post I have on my FB page. I got the information from someone else's post and I'm just trying to spread the word in case anyone wants to send a message to Old Country Buffet. If anyone knows any more details on the case, please put them here! All I know is that the cops were called and that it happened very recently.

A woman was recently kicked out of an Old Country Buffet in Maplewood, MN for breastfeeding her baby. Send your message of protest at http://www.oldcountrybuffet.com/contact.

Quotes you may want to use:
Minn. Stat. Ann. § 617.23 specifies that breastfeeding does not constitute indecent exposure.
Minn. Stat. § 145.905 provides that a mother may breastfeed in any location, public or private, where the mother and child are authorized to be, irrespective of whether the nipple of the mother's breast is uncovered during or incidental to the breastfeeding.

More details:
(From the originator of the report)
The story should be in the Pioneer Press and Star Tribute papers tomorrow. They interviewed her today and took photos. From what I understand, she was there eating with her family and was asked to cover up. Her infant wouldn't cooperate with being covered, they told her that they were going to call the cops. They packed up to leave, and we all know how fast that happens with a toddler & infant... but apparently not fast enough for the restaurant. The cops were already there, they told her that she would have to leave also.

I have eaten at the maplewood old country buffet dozens of times with my family. I am shocked that they would do this, and that the police would ignore the state laws. Shocking.

um... here's a question:
if the cops showed up and told her to leave in a state where rights are protected by law, why is no one calling the police to complain?

Count on me for a complaint. I'm in the neighborhood, too.

I really have to wonder when businesses are going to get a clue? Kick out a nursing mother and there are consequences (publicity, boycott, nurse-in, etc.). So sad for the mama involved

Oh I sent a message. I've never been to that particular restaurant but we've eaten at the Mankato location several times.

Shouldn't they know if something is against the law before they try to "enforce the law"?

They are claiming they asked her to leave because her fiance made a commotion.

Yet in the police transcripts breastfeeding is mentioned, not disorderly conduct... Hmmm.....

White female flashing customers....WTF?
Regardless of why they asked them to leave they had already harrased them by REQUIRING them to cover their baby while it ate.
I believe that the police are just as at fault as the restraunt. We hear over and over on here how the cops were called and they DID NOT stand up for the mother and baby.
This is ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Deputy Chief Dave Kvam said the 911 dispatcher's notes say, "Old Country Buffet manager told worker to call ... white female yelling at staff ... white female was breast-feeding and flashing the customers."

I agree that the woman should not have been asked to leave if it was because she was breastfeeding. However, the part I bolded sounds like disorderly conduct to me. How strong is our cause if we can't present all the evidence?
