Irritable uterus

Thread Starter
Anyone have any experience with this that they would like to share? I'm experiencing this for the second time with this being my second pregnancy. I would love to hear about other women's experience either as professionals, or as women living it. When did it start, how long did it last, what were the contractions like, when did you actually deliver, how did your hcp manage your pregnancy? etc.

With my first pregnancy it started at 30 weeks and I had contractions every 3-5 minutes for 8 weeks, delivering a healthy baby at 38 weeks. This time the 3 minutes apart contractions have already started at 26 weeks. I'm well hydrated, well nourished, not working a stressful job and not using any kind of substance. As far as I know, I'm not doing anything to cause this, it's just the way I bake babies. But I would love to hear about how other women experience this.

I was just comng here to post a similar thread. As I lie in bed timing my contractions yet again. I've been contracting every 2-3 minutes since about 32 weeks...I'm not quite 37 now. This is such a drag.

I did not have this problem with my DD so I can't speak to the outcome just yet. But I can say my midwives seem unconcerned, I drink ridiculous amounts of water, eat fairly well, take vitamins, all that. I do have a fair amount of uncontrolled stress in my life but I'm not sure that's the reason why this is happening, you know?

I can also report that the contractions are definitely getter longer and stronger. Now they are about 45 seconds to a minute long. I swear it feels like a constant contraction all day long at this point.

I wish someone could help us!

I started contracting regularly my last pregnancy at 22 weeks. I was put on bed rest and finally taken off at 31 weeks because my cervix was not changing. I ended up with an emergency c/s at 33 weeks for HELLP. I was still contracting every 3 minutes up to that point. I hope my uterus relaxes and is not so irritable this time around!

I thought I might have been in labor at 36wks. This is #2 for me, but I had no early labor with #1 just full blown contractions - active labor from the start. So, I dont know what to expect from early labor.

Anyway The dr hooked me up to the monitors/did internal & said I have an irritable uterus - drink more water. Did not seem concerned in anyway. The extra water seems to be helping. 39wks tomorrow & still no babe. Contractions - I have pains here & there - I really dont know if they are actual contractions tho.

Good luck.

I only have Braxton Hicks contractions over here, and before your post I'd never heard about the intricacies of irritable uterus.

I'm just here to send (((hugs))).

I'm only 22 weeks, but I get painful contractions whenever I poke my belly, lay on my belly, lean against my belly, twist funny, or otherwise distrub my uturus. I figure it is just super touchy. My MW said not to worry, that some pregnancy's are just like that. My first wasn't, and I find it sort of annoying. But I guess that it will be well toned by the time we're ready to push that baby out! All those reps! If only I could make my abs to that after the birth, I could have a 6-pack!
