what did you name your baby boy?

and can I use it if I like it?!! Anyone want to share what they recently named their new baby boy?
Despite a whole thread on this in the Feb ddc and lists of names, my sweet boy is still needing one. I feel terrible going this long!

What did you name your boy, if you don't mind sharing as inspiration?

I didn't have a boy, but if we had I might be in the same boat lol. We finally settled on a short list a few days before I went into labour but none of them felt perfect. Good thing we had a girl. Here was our "short" list:
Henry
Charles
Liam
Theodore
Kieran
Seamus

My family is Irish, though I also happen to love Gaelic names regardless (I've never gone specifically searching for them). Anyway, good luck! Can't wait to hear what you decide.

I'm not due with a boy but I do have three boys..

Austin Trevis (middle name is after dh, I don't like it but.. lol)
Ryan Matthew
Logan Jack (Jack is after my grandfather that passed)

If this one was a boy we had talked about Ethan for a boys name.

My boys are Alex Ethan, Aeron Mathew, and Nikolas Alan. I had a daughter this time but a boy would have been Gareth. I also like Liam, Ian, and Kieran, but here in Wales those are way too popular.

Bram Xavier I was drawn to B names, we considered Bohen but I was stuck on Bram. Xavier was DH's choice that was solidified when I talk to Jaime, MDC's physchic, she said Xavier the exact day we had discussed it so I knew it was meant to be.

DS2 is Kaleb Rider-Wendall. He was Rider all pregnancy then I met hima dnit didn't fit. One of the middle names I considered for DS1 popped in my head as I was staring at him and it fit Kaleb it is! Wendall was DH's grandpa who passed away just months before Kaleb was concieved.

Mind you I didn't like Kaleb at the time but I couldn't refuse the name that fits him so well.

DS1 is Tatum Harrison. He was the easiest one to name. DH wanted to continue the T tradition so we did. I didn't realize where we got Harrison from until later, it was DH's Dorm hall his first year of college.

I love baby names!

Katie,
What *kind* of names do you or dp like? What general ballpark are we in - traditional or unusual? Do you want to include any kind of family middle name, or have a sound you want to "go with" the last name at all? (Some of my fave names are ruled out because I don't like how they sound next to the "Lie" sound starting our last name-like I would otherwise go with Eli, but together it's too matchy for me.)

Give us some guidance to help narrow things down! Did you have a girl name you liked?

My fave boy names, by the way, are Caleb, Ezra, Liam, Ethan, and Thaddeus. A friend of ours has a boy named Kindred, which I love.

girl for us this time, but ds is benjamin hart. we call him jamin ("jay-min"), reasoning that there are already plenty of "ben" 's out there.

Lol, I just read through your Feb DDC thread! Okay, I see it's not a name problem, it's a decision problem.
I totally feel you there. Esp with our second, I felt the weight of making such a permanent decision for someone else!! (Although someone could legally change their name in adulthood.)

My sense is that you kinda *like* out-there unusual names, but you aren't sold on going for something so unconventional. I love your ideas for more 'standard' first names with a twist for a nickname (Theodore/Teo, Jeddediah/Jed, Jeremiah/Jem, maybe even Nicholas/Nico or Sebastian/Seb). Gavin is most like the name you love, Cavan without the odd associations.

Have you written them down as if on a school book, as if on letterhead/resume? Helped me to imagine my girls' names in both childhood and adult settings.

Also for the decision making process, I've been able to trick my brain, leaving it to "Fate" by drawing a name from a hat. The point actually is that when I or someone else picked a name, my heart would either soar or sink, and I would realize what I actually resonated with! Weird, huh?

Good luck mama! Once he has his name for a bit, you won't be able to imagine it another way.
For dd2 we were stuck between two names, and now I can't IMAGINE her as a Rosie. She is totally a Tessa. But I'm sure just cause it grew on me!

I agree that sometimes just hearing someone else say the name in relation to your child can help you either love it or hate it with your baby. You'll figure it out.

Our baby Simon Eugen (Swiss for Eugene-after his Swiss Grandpa) was born April 1st, 2010.

Have you considered Ronan or Roman? They're close North American ones to my ds2's name (he has an Indian name).

Jack. Not terribly original but my oldest (now 6yo) latched onto that one. One night while I was pg he wrote all of our names (DH, me, DD, his own name...) on his big chalkboard (which he does all of the time). He kept saying "mommy, look at what I wrote." Bad mama that I am I was cleaning and just saying "uh huh..." without looking I finally looked over and he had all of our names up including JACK written with a backwards "J". He heard us discussing that one a few times and kinda latched onto it...so Jack it was. This is the only child of the my three that actually had a name while I was pg

I like unusual names too but stuck with more classic ones for my own family. My newest nephew (born just a few weeks before my DS) is Maddyx.

OP, I've been following your thread since I love baby names. For some reason, I really think your boy should be Theo. Not sure why, but I love that name.

If DD had been a boy her name would have been Declan Hart. My twin dss are Benjamin Taylor and August Hugh. We call them Ben and Gus.

Other boy name faves: Ezra, Emmet, and Simon (or Cymon). DH is a huge fan of the name Satchel.

Good luck! I do think the child becomes the name. I actually would not use the name Benjamin if I had it to do over, as it is so popular, but by the same token, I cannot imagine my son with another name. My kids were all named in utero, so they had no choice but to grow into their names.
