Separate MMR availability in 2011- been discussed?

I've been trying to search the forum unsuccessfully. Can someone please point me to a thread that discusses whether there is any truth in the rumor that Merck will be again producing separate MMR vaccines in 2011?

If there's no thread, has anyone heard this rumor? Any truth in it? Any actual date given yet (month)?

TIA

I heard this and then I heard that Merck decided against making the separate vaccines available again. So, the final word I heard on it, was no, they will not be separating it. (

There was some news about it on Dr. Sears' website:

they are waffling. Seems they have said they will have singles again but there is no date. First they said no more singles in DFeecmber of 2008.

then there is this dated July 2009. Says they would make separete shots again, but do not say when except for in "at least 2 years" (look at last line)

So who really knows. That is certainly not evidence that they will be making singles again.

Thanks mamas. I guess I'll continue to waffle myself as to whether or not I'll get ds vaxed.

Why won't they make singles? Surely they'd make more money selling 3 shots instead of one?

They won't make singles because that is not what the ACIP reccommends. The ACIP is not about giving parents choices or options, they are about towing the line

Interesting. But the ACIP doesn't tell other countries what vaxes to give and you can't get singles anywhere anymore can you? I don't know enough about the world of vaccinations but always thought it was driven by the pharmas?

Yes you can get singles. Sanofi makes singles in Europe, and Japan has singles too. Just the countries who are supplied by Merck only won't have singles anymore.

Wow. Okay, now I understand what you're saying Marnica.
