Bringing preemie to work?

A friend and co-worker is going to be coming back to work once a week for a 6 hour shift (as receptionist). Though it will only be 2-3 times a month. She has a 4 week old healthy preemie (born at 32 weeks). She’ll be working a Sunday shift from 11-5 so I don’t see the problem with her bringing her LO with her and putting up a sign when she needs to go nurse in my office. Problem is, how do I ask/ approach my supervisor (the Museum Director) if this is OK? She needs the money or she wouldn’t so I want to help her out.

What would you say? She’s not our only staffing option but I want to be fair to let her work if she wants to/ needs to return but also make sure the job can be done without anyone complaining (doubtful but you never know). We’re not a big/ super busy Museum.

That seems like a lot of noise, stimulation, germs, etc. for a tiny baby.

A couple of issues you might want to address:
--who covers her duties while she is away from her desk?
--the person covering her absences should know that some slack will be cut her/him since that person will be covering 2 jobs for a time
--how long is it acceptable for her to be away from her desk 1) at a time, and 2) in total during a 6 hr shift

I've worked in situations like this before. Although no one might say anything to a person in charge, someone will get disgruntled at this woman's special treatment so it's good to have the parameters established--and communicated--early.
