Enhancing Milk Supply

Olivia is 9 1/2 weeks old now and I don't know if she is having a growth spurt but it seemed like she is not getting enough yesterday and last night. She is latching on and off, being real frustrated at the breast which both are light and fluffy cause she has fed so much. I once heard fenugreek seed would enhance more milk. Right now I am just drinking a nursing tea and I use an essential oil for nursing which I apply on the breasts. Do you know any more tricks?

Sure. Easiest and cheapest way is drinking lots of water and eating oatmeal. Oatmeal is amazing!

Breasts don't run out of milk so she's still getting something if she's nursing. Plus, it's really common for your body to determine Olivia's need and then know when to stop full force. In other words, after a bit of time (a couple of months) you stop getting that uber full feeling unless she misses a nursing session.

But, UC is right, water and oatmeal (plain, in cookies, in granola, etc) works.

Thanks, I always drink lots anyways but I will try oatmeal. I might have a plugged duct in my armpit. maybe that is the problem?...

I never heard of the oatmeal. I will have to try that myself.

More milk

More milk special blend. I just bought some to increase my pumping output. Oatmeal daily. Check for burps. Once Laura starts to struggle at the breast, I know it's time to burp.

YES! Griffin is just like that. Which is weird because I *never* had to burp my daughter.

Thanks for the burping advice. I think I might not burp her enough!

Hello!
this is so a thread I know about!
Oatmeal works
nutritional yeast
dark beer
lots of water
fenugreek seeds (you can get them in pill form, look for blends with fennel seed too, they help to prevent the bloat that fenugreek can cause, also fenugreek can make you smell like maple syrup)
nettle tea
domperidone, which is a drug, helps with stomach issues, and it's been shown to increase milk supply, you can't get it in the states, you'll have to go to a special pharmacy or Canada to get it
reglan, (I think I remember the name right) this didn't work for me at all, but it was one I was perscribed.

Spearmint can decrease your supply.

Fenugreek and dark beer both really work well for me!

Traditional Medicinals makes a Mother's Milk Tea. i've never tried it, but might be worth a shot.

Oatmeal? Really? Awesome! I will have to try that!

Mother's milk tea is great - although I'm currently threading a fine line between having a little extra and oversupply so I've stopped drinking it
